Default RE: Kits sitting in the box...

Our garage is half full of our household stuff.........and the other half of our garage is full of my untouched ARF/RTF airplanes still in the boxes....some of the boxes are still not opened from the day I received it........many are from way back 3-4 years ago. Some are twin glow engines(3 Twinstars, 2 Dual Ace, 1 Nitroplanes .52 Cessna 421, 2 Nitro planes .52 B-25, 1 CMP .52 Cessna 172???, 1 CMP 1.20 Cessna 172????, 1 Nitroplanes .40 T-34 Mentor, 2 Nitroplanes Tucano 1.20, 1 Nitroplanes Transall .25, boxes and boxes of foam ARF and RTF electric planes as well as boxes of kits only, without the electronics as spare of the foam electric planes in case I crash BECAUSE these foam planes fly very well and they will soon(as some of them already are) be discontinued as the manufacturers seem to move on to different models or go out of business altogether. Like somebody said.......if you like a particular model.....buy it or if you already have one.....buy a spare.....because they might discontinue the model and then there you go hunting in Flea-bay or RC forums e-mailing back and forth for a used one when you could'a-should'a-would'a while it was still available. I am 63 years old and still going strong.....but when I retire these boxes and boxes of ARF/RTF(complete with boxes and boxes of brand new Airtronics R-8000 2.4 radio sets, extra servos, engines, motors, ESC, hinges, retracts etc. etc.) will keep me busy for a long, long time. Much of the ARF/RTF I bought was when they were on sale or on close out..........as the Nitroplanes CMP .52 Cessna and Nitroplanes CMP Cessna 1.20 were on closeout for $49 for the .52 Cessna and the Nitroplanes CMP Cessna 1.20 was on closeout for $99, both brand new from Nitroplanes as CMP was having a copyright issue with Cessna over the use of the Cessna logo and name and Nitroplanes had to get rid of the Cessna logo'ed and named CMP planes. It was a once in a lifetime deal or a once in a blue moon deal just like if you found an estate sale of new RC stuff...........don't hold your breath on that.....but if you see one, grab it or you will regret it later. 'Nuff said. Larry.

Asking us if you need more kits, is like asking a bunch of drunks if they need another drink. Of course we're going to tell you your need ''another one''.

27 NIB kits - some older/discontinued ones like sportser bipe 40's and 90-120 Super Sportster kits
27 NIB ARFs
9 ready to fly

Now, I just turned 55 so I wonder if I have enough time for all of this or if I should unload some???? Nah, on second thought, my Wife can do that after I'm gone! Maybe I'm becoming more of a collector. We have another local swap meet coming up and I get alot of enjoyment in selling and buying - it's almost a hobby unto itself in the off season.[8D]

I thought this would be a great thread to bring back from the dead:

I've got a Century Jet Models F-100 Super Sabre, with retracts. I bought it back in the late 1990s and never started on it. It seems to not have a very exact scale outline. Would like to covert it to turbine power, but not sure what modifications would be necessary.

I've got 18 kits the majority of which are no longer in production. Luckily I bought a good deal of them at swap meets years ago when they were going cheap. (how about a NIB Sig Komet for $25?) I've also got nearly as many sets of plans. I'll build them all someday when I retire. In the meantime, I'll keep buying until I get 100 or so.

Wow, I remember the Komet from when I was a kid. That was the one that was all foam and Sig sold that foam safe paint called Plastiskoat? I'm 42 and starting to think about collecting kits for retirement. I should have started earlier though, because the prices are going through the roof.

I have 5 ARFs in line. I constantly try to get it down to zero or just one, and made it to one a year ago, then lost control again, haha. If you really love this hobby, you absolutely cannot have zero planes waiting to be built/assembled! Jon

I was out of the hobby when kits were being dumped cheap.. as the arfs were coming in to the business.

I would have probably stacked a million kits in the basement if I would have known :P

I just 're-discovered' for the first time a Pica 1/8th (?) Corsair...hiding under a bed......how did it get there any way? Might have to put it on flea bay as I've got a long list of kits ahead of it.......

only one left from this post not built is the sig smith mini biplane. Added a .60 ultra sport, 4star.120 and a Top flite D.C.3. Kinda neat looking at an old thread to see whats been done, and whats left to build. Building the kadet senior now.
