du-bro quick connects
I've been trying w/out much success to solder the supplied spring onto my throttle control rod. I've followed the instructions, but it always seems weak. It says to repeat until desired adherence, but everytime I heat it back up again I lose progress and the solder flows back out. I usually measure and hook things up directly but figured this would be a nice change. Any suggestions?

I'm afraid I don't know what you are talking about. Never used anything that has to be soldered to throttle control rod. usually just a nylon quick link if throttle rod is metal or metal quick link if throttle rod is plastic.

G'day Mate,
I believe you are trying to use the "spring" which is used to stop the clevis from popping open.
In the same way as you would use soft fuel tube etc.

As in the No. 304 Clevis connectors?

They're threaded. No solder necessary. Maybe a little blue threadlock. I like these for biplane ailerons run off servos in only the lower wing halfs but with connector rods between the upper & lower using these . Easier (for me) than sliding the tubing every time you assemble & disassemble the wings at the field and they look much better.

You seem to have two issues here- 1.Soldering and 2. Link type. If the solder doesn't take add a dab of flux to the joint. But if you have overheated and blackened the parts clean them first. As to the coupler make things simpler for yourself. Put a Du-Bro 1/16" ball coupler on the engine's throttle arm and then solder the supplied thread brass coupler to your throttle rod. Forget about springs.

RE: du-bro quick connects
Thanks guys, sorry I wasn't more specific earlier. The supplied pack has a spring that solders to the end of the control rod. Supposedly it acts as threads to spin on the plastic clevis. (This way you van control how long the throttle arm is w/ threaded ends)Not sure of the part number as I'm away from the kit right now. I've decided to go another route now and it won't be a problem anyway. I'm not sure how well a soldered connection like this would hold up to engine vibration from an OS 25 either?
thanks
