Default Building a new workshop need list

Right im building a new workshop attached to my house, now im just wondering what tools you guys on here would consider a must for our hobby,

Iv already been and bought a nice electric Draper 16inh fretsaw, soldering iron, blow torch for metal work, and a drill and a set of knifes, but what other tools do you think i should see about investing into,

A dremel or other similar rotary tool, and a good accessory kit, is a must-have.

Well my friend, I too took a hike from this hobby for about 45 years. I went back to my roots (see attached). A divorce did my tool collection in but, darn it, I'm back in the frey. (see attached - my roots) A big thanks to my RCU members/friends who have forgotten more than I'll ever know about this hobby. "Never have so many owed so much to so few." W. Churchhill Nice to meet you mate. Please stay in touch from across the pond.

Cheers,
Bill

I'd consider a magnetic building board. It makes life so much easier. Ram Jet made a very complete list, but I have to say I'm confused about that Mossberg 500A. I have one and have not used it in model building as yet. Is it used to make lightening holes?

I've found that the Mossburg is a great 'go to' tool for those finiky projects that you run out of patience with
It's also handy for those times that you bring home a plane that is beyond repair and requires a 'cerimonial' end of its service. But that's just a thought Cheers! BH

You are funny. A fellow member found an old fuel engine in a field recently that apparently was blown out of the sky with a shotgun. He included pictures. I think he's running it today. "Anyone who is amazed at anything a human being does is a damn fool."

Oh, absolutely, a band saw. Shoot, I forgot that. Now if I could stay off that darn Auctionland website I could have the $89.00 for the one I saw recently. "I see said the blind carpenter as he picked up his hammer and saw."

I was fortunate with the woodworking stuff. I used to build cabinets and now I dont. so I have a 24 x 32 shop that is stricktly for planes. I have all of the tools still. I just trying to get it cleaned out and organized. I let it go to pot before I started back in R/C

Don't feel bad mate. I'm stuck with a bedroom I'm converting (12' x 15'). We'll just have to make the most of a small space. We can do it the Japanese do it. We aren't building the Spruce Goose you know.

Keep on Chooglin'.

An anvil, or piece of railroad rail about a foot long, is handy to have. Add a 2 lb hammer and you have a perfect system to make those stubborn parts fit perfectly

Tha anvil is handy. Th curved nose is useful for shaping metal parts, the top great for seating blind nuts, etc., anything where you need to pound on something.

Hey buddy, I'm not the "Prince of Organization" either. But, as my Irish great grand mother would say "It's not what ya were me boy, it's what ya are taday."

Let's get our stuff together - we might build better planes. I've got it, put on a CD of Sly and the Family Stone and crank it up. "Iwanttothankyouforlettinmebemyselftoday."

Dude! You must be a student of the "Bigger Hammer" school of handymen. Put your 21 pounder down and get really "hammered" on some Jim Beam Black. Crank up your HiFi while you're at it. Just don't attempt to build under the influence.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Playing the "Kink's Kronikles" now. If you don't have the CD you MUST get it.

The Huges H-1 racer and another pretty plane the Ryan STA. I want pictures of your completed project and if your good I might commission you to build me one. Get to work.
