Default JR PCM 10X memory battery replacement

I have a JR PCM 10X that is long past needing to have the internal memory battery replaced. Anyone have a tips on disassembly of the TX and the battery replacement? Type and source for the replacement battery

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, The battery is soldered to a board in the trans. I have replaced them in JR 3810(Aust #) 8 channel set. It is not easy and I used a battery holder out of a computer. With the X10 I would send it to a repair center because damage to the screen is a real possiablity. I now have the new JR DSX9 which has a Flash memory, no battery. The internal battery is only used when the main battery is flat or removed.

Cheers

I have replaced the LCD screen in my 10X and it went fine, mind you it wasn't a simply matter getting into the case!
The battery in question is reasonably simple to change... I'm told as long as you have some decent electronics soldering skills.
You'll need two components; the battery and the battery holder clip.
Unfortunately, JR service in the US won't let you have these, or any parts for DIY or indeed, give you an help.
Thankfully, these, together with just about ever spare part you'll need is available from MacGregor the UK JR distributor. www.macgregor.co.uk.
Which is cool... Plus the fact that'll they'll give you a step by step instruction about doing the home fix.
Nice guys.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

BTW, I'm 10 years into my 10X with the same battery.
They say it last far far longer than specified.

Put it into a box and pack well then just send it into Radio South for service. They will go through the whole radio and it will be done right!!

Two weekends ago my buddy brought his 10X out to fly. All the planes were erased from the memory. He said the back up battery had died. He also said he did not let the main battery run down so i don't know how the memory got erased. Either way I would send yours in before this happens. He is not real fast at programming and has a long road in front of him. At least he has a 8303 for a back up.

Thanks to all for the info. I will get it packed up and sent in for the battery change, and a general "tune up". I do have the memory backed up to my PC using the PC Data Transfer software.
