You may not have to turn the radio on. The adaptor I use with my JR radio and Phoenix sim uses the power from the USB port to power the radio.

My Feedback: (8)
I used Futaba radio with FMS, had to turn the radio on. I only remember getting the sticks to work. The radio gets calibrated under the Joystick feature of the software. There is no way to disable features that I am aware of, but regardless it is a good idea to setup a separate channel just for computer use.

Same here, with my JR it uses the power from the USB. I guess JR had that in mind when they developed there radios. [8D]

I have the Futaba 7C 2.4GHz and use a USB cable. The radio has to be on in order to use the simulator. Depending on the software you run the switches may function.

PcMac,
Pull the crystal out of the transmitter.
This also prevents a problem if someone is flying in the area.
Where are you getting the cable from?
Good Luck,
