Default amphibian aircraft old- real old

Hi
Maybe I can get some information on this aircraft such as: name.what size engine to use, CG location. This amphibian can be used for water if you switch wheels to forward postion. It was given to a club member. We guess its about 40-50 years old. It was built in a freeflight mode. wingspan 72", plane is 60" long. We have cut in rudder and elevators after removing house paint from aircraft. In the bones it weighs 3.5 pounds. This kit has plenty of sticks in the build. Plane needs to handled with care. It had no tail wheel. no floats on wing just sponsons. It could be a Grumman make ???? Any help would be appreciated. photos included. Thanks

Not a Grumman. It has some resemblance to the Fleetwings-Seabird: http://www.historicaircraft.org/Gold...s-Seabird.html

Looks a lot like a Fairchild Model 91 except for the added sponsons. Max H.

Definately not a Fleetwing and I suspect it is not a scale airplane at all but I agree with foodstick it is absolutly striking. The sponsons are insufficient to provide any kind of stability. Typically ROW (rise off water) events would launch from just a couple inchs of water contained with a plastic sheet.
