Can someone tell me the difference ("besides physical dimensions ) between a pattern prop and a sport prop. Pulling power, handling, etc. I was trying to find a 14x6 sport prop for a plane I'm building but could only find it in a pattern prop, I bought it and will try it but inquiring minds want to know. The LHS couldn't tell me. I know someone here will know. Thanks Gary

You select a prop for the performance on your airplane.......the bigger the pitch more speed but less pull, lower pitch less speed more pull.

The Higher pitch of the pattern prop helps to keep the plane on a constant speed, especially in downward manuevers. There is a difference on how a plane will perform with a sport prop or a pattern prop.

the pitch comes to mind. a sport prop is a 12-6 whereas a pattern prop is 12-12 (approximately)

APC (I'm assuming) labels their props with a type (Sport, Pattern, etc) as well as a length /pitch. Their "sport" props just don't go as far up in pitch as the "pattern" model does.
Fly the pitch/length that you need, and as da Rock said, disregard the marketing mumbo jumbo.
Wait 'til you try to decide which Vess prop to get![sm=drowning.gif]
