Default Threw a prop and now.........

I recently was flying my os 55 powered gp venus, when all of a sudden, the spinner exploded, the prop went flying, the engine made a loud noise, and then I made a deadstick landing. The plane is fine. I was at nearly wide open throttle. The engine starts, but when I increase throttle, it slowly dies. What went when the rpm went sky high?

That's one of those open it up and check it out answers. I would be looking at the rod and crank though. Another good answer would be go to the OS factory support forum and ask Bill Baxter, he is the factory support guy and would have a better answer then that. I have seen race planes do that and it usually bent the rod or crank when it over reved. Go ask Bax!!

call support first....the RPM's went through the roof and you may have scored the piston and sleve....do you still have the same compression when you turn the engine over by hand?

Just a wrench. Simple nut with a washer setup. Got it as tight as I could. Check those things regularly.
