BEC or no?
I have a Hotliner, with a 80 amp esc from castle creations, unfortunately I dont know what model it is. Question is if I want to use a 3 cell 11.1 volt battery, do I need an external BEC?

Castle Creations should say something about that for each of their ESCs on their website. I just looked up the Phoenix 80 and it says 3S is the max number of cells with BEC through it. If I were you, I'd look at all their 80s and compare the pictures to your unit while looking at the specs for each.
