I have measured the head and exhaust stack temps with a surface pyrometer on a ST .90. As I recall it was about 350 degrees F. But that was over 15 years ago, so my memory may be off.

Harbor Freight has a non contact digital [link=http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93984]thermometer[/link] for 25 bucks that'd allow you to check it.

Mufflers can exceed 350-400 degrees, depending upon the location. Portions closer to the engine's exhaust stack will be hotter.

Exhaust temps can exceed 600 degrees, so the muffler can get very hot. Mufflers that are very restrictive will become hotter than more mufflers that allow for a more free-flowing exhaust stream.
