Hi,
I have a question about receiver antenna wires. I have a couple of receivers that need the antennas relaced on them and was just wondering about the wire used for the antenna. I know that you can buy replacements at the LHS,but the closest to me is about 30 miles away.
My question(actually questions) is, what gauge wire is used for the antenna and if it is just a regular wire or is there something else to them?
Ive replaced a few before with wires that Ive bought from the hobbyshop with no trouble, but never payed any attention to the wire itself.
Thanks in advance for any input on this.

The gage is not critical, use any reasonably flexible multistrand wire that is 39 to 41 inches long. Nearly all receivers are base loaded to work best with approximately a 1 meter long antenna. Do not be mislead that the length has to be a 1/4 wavelength as that is not true due to the base loading.
