*EMS Charge Switch Issues*

I have been using the EMS Heavy Duty DSC Switch from TH for $11.99 for some years. The last few that I have bought are really tight (circled in red) when trying to put the pig tail in or pull it out from my charger or battery tester. So tight that when reaching inside the fuse to unplug it I can't pull it out without grabbing the wire and I pulled the wire out of one. The EMS is about the same as the MPI and the JR switch. I'm looking to buy some other brand. What are you using and where do you get them?

I've got a couple of the MPI swtich/jacks and haven't had a problem with them. I also have several of the Great Planes switch/jack holders with the silver push-pull rod. I have had trouble getting my charge jack to stay in place on one of those.
Maybe you could try a short servo extension, with a slightly different plug? My battery tester wouldn't fit into some of my jacks, so I stuck a short JR servo extension on it, and it fits fine. I am not sure what the stock plug was supposed to fit.
Good luck

I got tired of buying the LHS brand switches and switched to the ED Ultra Switch ll !
Am happy that I did...in fact so happy that I buy 3 to 6 at a time, so I have them in my parts drawer.
Check em out here and then do their compare theirs to ours section then you decide.

mclina,
Good idea dude. Didn't think about that.
airbusdrvr,
That is a good switch but I'm looking for one that has the built in charge jack.

I have a problem with the EMS charge switch, (for Spektrum/Jr), when trying to use the charge port. There is no connection to the battery. I did a continuity check on the charge port and wire to the battery. Brown wire has continuity, red wire, (center), no continuity, and orange wire has continuity. I think the Brown, (negative), and Red, (positive), are the battery leads and the orange is for signal. If this is correct then the center charge connector on the switch is not connected internaly and is the reason why I can't charge my battery through the charge port. Please correct me if this is not correct. In anycase I am installing a new switch because I just don't feel comfortable with it. If the charge connector has a problem there could be another problem lurking some where else that may cause a loss of power to the receiver.
