Default Giant Scale Batteries

The more I read on this topic, the more confused I get. I'm ready to get batteries for a 30% Yak and based on recomendations I think A123 is the direction I want to persue. The problem is, from what I can see they aren't usually referred to as A123 when ordering. So the dummy question of the day is, what exactly am I looking for when trying to order A123 packs?

a123 = LiFE or lithium iron phosphate

they can be bought from all-battery.com, you can make your own packs which isnt hard at all or you can buy premade packs

So is A123 a name brand or battery type? In other words if I want A123 technology, do I look for LiFePo, lithium ion, A123 etc? I still don't get it.

A123 is a brand name for LIFe batteries. They were one of the first available so the "A123" has stuck as THE NAME, like Kleenex. Some still believe thay are the best and only to buy, but as time goes by, more and more LiFe are becoming available, GP's Life series for example. SO if you want A123, buy Life's (Lithium Iron Phosphate) from some one. But, note that you will also need to buy a LiFe compatible charger.

BTW, a personal opinion moment. I don't believe that the type of battery you buy and use matters as much as your technique for using them . If you develope a good regiment for maintaning and testing your battery, then the type, LiFe, Nicd, Nmhd, doesn't matter. They will all work.

That makes sense, but I'm looking on TBM's site and I see Li Phosphate, not LiFe. Is this the same as Lithium Iron Phosphate?

One more question: is lithium iron a typo for lithium ion (see above)?

Lithium Iron and Lithium Phosphate are the same It is actually Lithium iron Phosphate. Lithium Iron is not a typo for Lithium Ion, it's another chemistry type.
