foamie hinges
Hi all,
Im new to foamie building and based on the directions of the F22 kit i built, a single strip of scotch tape on one side of the elevons was all that was needed to secure the surface... however while flying it today, when I applied full up elevator, both elevons separated from aircraft, which was actually rather funny, but I was wondering if there is a better way to make these hinges, should there be tape on the bottom too? Thanks in advance.

RE: foamie hinges
Better tapes are 3M package sealing tape or DuBro hinge tape. If needed you can add some strips (fore & aft) on the underside with the tape pressed into the beveled joint. (DuBro tape is Blenderm repackaged.)

RE: foamie hinges
What works well on foam is hot glue hinges. Leave a 1/32 to 1/16 gap between the surfaces and run a thin film of hot glue between about 1/2 in. wide and onto the surfaces about a 1/4 in. Works well and you won't break them. Try it on some scrap to see what I mean
