Mustangs

Depends on the circumstances and connotation.
If I am stepping off a curb downtown and someone yells "Look out for that Mustang!" I probably wouldn't look up. But if I am at the airfleld I duck first and begin taking evasive maneuvers.

Hi,
If you say Mustang I think of the sound of a Rolls Royce Merlin Engine.
I believe Fraud may have built a "pony car" in the sixties but if you can remember you weren't there and I was!
Cheers,
Colin

Before we moved here to Lancaster we lived near Van Nuys Airport, home to a P-51D. Every once in a while I'd be sitting there when I'd hear the incredibly beautiful sound of that Rolls-Royce Merlin engine pass right over the house at about 500 feet. Something you never forget once you hear it.

Just as was said above, it kinda depends on the circumstances. When I hear about the Mustang cars I think that the only ones I would ever want are 30 some years old and that nowadays every other person has a new one. Why on earth would I want one? Camaro's on the other hand are a completely different story!!
Aircraft? The Mustangs have a rich and decorated history. Being near one is one awe inspiring experience!! I had the pleasure of seeing a P-51 and an A-10 flying in formation at an airshow as past and present symbols of air superiority and freedom fighters. Incredible.
So I guess when I hear the name Mustang it is usually in reference to the automobile. When I hear the designation P-51_ my mind is already wishing I had one of my own!! Shoot, I'd settle for just the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine or the airframe!
