Air pressure sensor for retracts..
 

Was wondering if anyone has heard of or tried to make a sensor for air retracts that would alert the pilot to the loss of pressure in the system? Want to use LED's that will come on if pressure falls to about half giving you enough time to drop the gear before it's too late. Watched a friend have this problem with his 1/5 TP P-51 last weekend. Fortunately one gear came down on it's own resulting in a new prop and a little character to the wing tips only.

There is a unit that will lower the gear automaticly if the air gets low, but I can't seem to think of the company that makes it right now. (CRS) :D

Robart makes a pressure indicator that you can add to your retract system.

Also, Robart makes some gear that will lower automatically when they lose pressure. The company called Spring-Air made the original pressure-up, spring-down retracts. Robart just started making this type a couple years ago.

evan then unless you use a 2 way system so that the plaane is sending info to the ground your going to need one BRIGHT led to see it....

Spring Air retracts is the company that makes the retracts that automatically come down if it loses air pressure. They are located in Melbourne, FL and are VERY nice to deal with. Below is thier website.

I was not refereing to Spring Airs or any other "spring down" system. Somewhere I saw a sensor that you could set to lower the gear if pressure was lost. It was adjustable for the pressure it would lower the gear. However, Spring Air retracts are about as "fail-safe" as it gets with air retracts.
