cox engine 0.49?
i have a cox engine0.49 modle, but do not know the needle setting for the carb.
|
RE: cox engine 0.49?
why?
|
RE: cox engine 0.49?
It has been around 35 years since I started a Cox .049 on a plastic control line plane
I think they called for opening the needle 3 turns for initial startup. If it just burns the prime and dies; close the needle 1/8 to 1/4 turn, re-prime, and try again |
RE: cox engine 0.49?
if it is just burning the prime it's not getting fuel so the needle valve should be opened.but I believe youre correct about the 3 turns open, that is usually the starting point for reed valve engines.

i got the engine running but will only stay running for a cuple of seconds, its differnt from a t-maxx truck. dos it need a backpresser line
|
RE: cox engine 0.49?
anyone. it wont stay running why? the little tube behind the needle what is it for?
|
RE: cox engine 0.49?
can you post a picture of the engine,if it doesn't stay running but revs up in max rpm before stopping it is not getting any fuel from the tank open the needle valve 1/2 turn and try again, once it starts and stays running you adjust the needle valve till you get near max rpm.

RE: cox engine 0.49?
You may get better help on the engine forum or control line forum. I think Cox engines like high nitro high castor fuel - like 25% nitro and 25% castor oil. They may not run well on other fuel. Also, my Cox engines were always fussy - I had to play with the needle a lot to get a good run.
Where is your tank? The picture does not appear to have a tank. |
RE: cox engine 0.49?
Try your questions on the 1/2A forum. The folks over there were a great help to me and my questions on the little engines. Good luck with it.
