Float mounting

Hello all,

I have a 1/4 scale Decathalon from the late eighties. I am wanting to put floats on it and need help. I have never put floats on anything.
Any tips or websites would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

They need to be 80 % the length of the fuse , backplate to rudder tip. float step is mounted 1/2 inch behind aircraft CG. Top of floats to top of wing need to be about 2-3 degrees negative so you get more lift from the wing. Height of it all needs to put the prop 1-2 inches above the float tops.
Email me if you have any specific questions not covered. Floats are a blast!!

Maybe these pictures of my 1/4 Citabria will be of help. I'm also attaching copies of the diagrams from the Chuck Cunningham paper on setting up floats.

Also, this plane is built, covered and set up for wheels. Which means that I will have to somehow reinforce the fuse.

Thanks,

Since the fuse is already strong enough for the main gear, all that's needed is to strengthen the area where the second float attachment will be. It's easy to put in some lite ply with epoxy and a couple of pieces of triangle stock.
