Gen IV pics
Could someone that has a Gen IV Yak please post some pics of this plane, I know there are only a couple of it on the website, or even a video would be good, I would really like to see what I am going to get before I buy one of these planes.

RE: Gen IV pics
here are 2 i have posted already on another thread and I'm leaving for the field now so ill grab some more and post em tonight.
By the way only 3% ruder to ele and ZERO % rudder to aileron mix was required! Thats the only plane i have ever had that didn't need any mix for roll coupling.

Well posted some pics in another thread so i wont duplicate them but i have some end game pics now []
The batts died on me and the plane flew off by itself and then finally crashed; the airframes a total loss
I was going to get a new air frame from qq but my lhs/friend ordered me an extra before I found out about the sale where you can get a 102 100cc vrs or something like 795.
P; how bout that smile it was all i was able to muster so soon after the crash lol.

RE: Gen IV pics
Thanx man but i really wasnt to mad i know my plane can go in at any moment for any number of reasons. I was in a cart and road up to the plane all crunched up and my first response was extreme happiness because i could see the my canisters were relatively undamaged and will be usable again. Jeff Holsinger was there with me to diagnose what caused the crash but i knew as it went in it was most likely the batts and it was. I have another airframe now and as soon as DA sends my engine back to me ill be in the air quick.

2 A123 batts. The plane was on flight 3 and i was able to push 8 flights if i wanted to go to the end of the batteries. The plane used ~500mah per flight. So some were I lost a lot of mah. My friend lost his python with a da85 dead stick so i scavenged his 4 cell li-ons and his spinner for my new plane .

RE: Gen IV pics
This is so strange. I can't believe you had both batteries fail at the same time, that is just not likely. I wonder what it could have been? That is sad and confusing.
Good luck with the new plane!

RE: Gen IV pics
batteries didnt fail like go bad; they were drained. Something pulled a lot more mah than they had been the past 20 gallons. I cant believe i got 20 gallons of flying in 1.5 months lol.
Also the kodiac switches were reset by the impact or by the batteries being separated from the switches by impact so i couldnt get a final tally of mah used up to the crash.

That is too bad Mike! Maybe something got bumped and the servos were fighting each other? Were the batteries ever completely cycled down? Sometimes they act funny until they have been run hard and deep a few times.
Enough questions, get back to studying. Good luck on the tests this week!

RE: Gen IV pics
1900 is probably far enough. They don't develop a "memory" the way a NiMH will, but they seem to be happier after a few deep cycles. You are probably correct there was a current draw in the system somewhere.

Sorry for your loss Mike!...
If it makes you feel any better, I have lost my last 3-planes w/o ever getting more than a half a gallon threw them!!
On top of that, it was due to weird events and failures, that typically never happen!
My luck has to get better.....
Perhaps next year???
I dissagree about the color scheme though...... A shame if you ask me.... I know that most of the manufactures have been going twards the (retro look)
No frills covering shceme's.... I just wish the brio was still a option at least???? Perhaps it was a cost issue as well???? Brio scheme has lots of cuts....
That has to add up over time?? I don't think there have been any manufacture to even match it???? The Kimball scheme??? Quite ugly...No affence....
Perhaps I have to see this scheme in person to appreicat it???

RE: Gen IV pics
I like the the gen4 scheme and i think you can still get the brio scheme. They have the gen3 instock still fyi as far as i know the scheme and the tail wheel are the major differences so go wild on the gen3 if you like the brio and the gen4 if you like the semi scale scheme.
