Default RC Skydiving Glossary

Every sport common expressions that are used to describe what is being or what was done. These are some of the terms I use and are a carryover from my old skydiving days.

Crabbing: Quartering the wind.

Dirt Dive: The parachute didn't open. (For Skydivers this has a different meaning)

Holding: The jumper is facing into the wind.

Hop and Pop: No freefall opened just after being dropped.

Running: The jumper is going with the wind.

Using brakes: Pulling down both control lines to slow down the forward speed of the parachute.

Brad,
Quartering the wind is like tacking with a sailboat. You would be flying your parachute at an angle to the direction the wind is blowing. I hope that helps. You could crab into or with the wind.
Juan
