Default Spektrum Dx5e for skydiver?

Is anyone using rhe Specktrum DX5e 5Ch radio for their skydivers. I took the Futaba 2.4 Ghz rec. out of one of my skydivers to put in a plane, now I need to put one back in the skydiver. I can get this radio w/rec.(DX5e 5Ch Full Range Transmitter/Receiver only MD2 by Spektrum ) for $99. thats cheaper than buying another 2.4 rec. for my Futaba radio.
Just wondered if anyone has tried it for skydiviing yet.

Hey Gary,
I just started using the DX5 on my RC Skydiver and it has worked just fine. I put the receiver down in the bottom front of the jumper and wrapped the long antenna around the jumpers leg. I've got 5 drops on my jumper and so far so good.

Hi ,

Have made a attempt to modify a jumper for DX5e ,the max deflection is 100% ! you can modify the steering point on the arm to have more travel = less force on the arm is the result, thats not good .
DX7 is max deflection 125 % and is working great, no deference with a "normal " TX
I use the Rx of the DX5e and have 125% travel on DX7 TX .

Dont see any reason it wont work as almost any radio will work . Yoy may need to adjust the end points or servo arm as you would do on any set up .
Have fun with it

Gary : Hey have a specktrum six 2.4 four in my flag dropping jumper and everything is working real good . Know juan has a specktrum five in one and has not had any problems with his. Have you herd anything on our rally in muncie as to what dates we might have?.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input, Lundy, I never gave it a thought on the max. percentage of deflection on the servos for that radio.
I guess I'm used to Futaba systems and they have 140%
I'll think about it a little more before I get one.

Woke up to a foot of snow here this morning, calling for temps in the 60'S by thursday, so it won't be here long. 13.3 deg. F here now.

Bob, Check below for the dates for Muncie.
