Default RE: Servos

Hi n welcome!

First thing to check is the battery(ies). Are they fully charged/new? If you use 4 AA type batteries in a plastic holder, replace them and see if that helps, if you have a 6v receiver battery pack (this should be your next hopup if you don't have one, see links below), make sure it is charged.

Additionally, if this is a new car, bought as an RTR (ready to run), it simply has cheap servos in it, which may not be able to turn the wheels while standing still, especially on carpet. This may not be a major problem as long as it turns when the car is moving. Upgrading to a 6v receiver battery instead of 4 aa batteries (if that's what you use) will make a big difference to the strength of the servo, but it will not make a bad servo good. Unfortunately, very few RTRs are supplied with acceptable servos and the battery pack and steering servo are always going to be your first upgrades. It is of course possible that you have an acceptable steering servo, and it has just died or maybe has a gear problem.

Here's a nice cheap servo that would turn the wheels on carpet easily... http://www.hobbypartz.com/60gexidise.html
Here's a nice cheap battery pack to use for the servos instead of the AA holder (maybe yours needs a stick type? Be careful, this is called brick/hump type for obvious reasons)... http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-1600-6...set-brick.html - you may need to change the battery plug for the standard futaba type, but that's easy, just cut it off the old AA battery holder and solder it to the new battery.
And finally, something to charge that battery (this does push up the cost of the upgrade, but look on the bright side, you'll only need to buy it once, or maybe you already have a charger?)... http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html

Default RE: Servos

if your battery pack is ok  and it is the servo   buy a good quality servo the first time.  buy once.  cheaper in the long run  i bought a cheap servo for 25.00  it lasted 2 months.    i bought a hitec   its lasted 2 and a half years now.
