Default Thunder Tiger Mirage Pro.21 questions.

Hi all, I'm a new member, so go easy on me.
In 1996ish, I bought a new Thunder Tiger Mirage pro, with a .21 motor.
I ran it for about 2 hours total, over a 3 week period.
Took out the glow plug, put some Marvel Mystery oil in it, never ran it again, fast forward to
last week.
Motor looks good, as we speak, the motor is soaking in my parts washer.
I want a pull starter on it, what do I need?
Should I buy a new .21 Thunder Tiger motor for it, that has the pull starter all
ready on it?=$180
The buggy is in new condition, but then, with only 2 hours of parking lot runs on it, it should.

Calm down pal.
Maybe in future if you want people to only veiw the thread if they have an answer, then make the thread title more accurate.
Is the question should you buy a Pro 21 or where would you get a pullstart for a Pro 21?

Ok, heres what I did today.
I went to a hobby store and got a guy to look at my motor.
Seeing how the motor did not come with a pull start, the crankshaft does
not have a provision for a pull starter.
The odds of finding a crank for my motor(that will accept a pull starter) is probably
slim to none.
So, I plan on just putting it back in the Mirage and run it the way it is.
I just don't feel like spending a 180 bucks to get a pull start, a new motor would
come with it
Sorry for getting ticked off

Some engines have a crank that will work with both pull and non-pull...the Pro21 is not one of them...but it is a fairly common engine. I see 2nd hand ones come up fairly frequently on Ebay and sell for litle money (in the UK), keep your eyes open and you may be lucky....there are a few different versions though and I am pretty sure the crank diameter can be different, so be aware of that.

No need to get ticked off in a day or so when you have been waiting since 1996 to get it going again.

Easy tiger, watch the profanity. Buy a bump starter box, much cheaper if you want to use that engine.

Ya, I think I will just run it the way it is.
I do have a starter box that I bought back in the day
Thank you for all the advice.
I was going to sell all the stuff I have for the Mirage for 300 bucks.
The guy backed out and I am glad, I gots a bunch of money into
this endeavor.
So, I decided to just get back into the RC thing.

I buit a TTR Mirage Pro in 1996 and somthing was allways breaking on it. The 21BXR engine that came with was a great engine. I moved to Texas and it set in a box for a long time. Four years ago my brother in-law got me re interested in RC cars again and pulled it out of it box. ButI couldnt turn the engine over so I took it out of the car and pulled the flywheel off and the head and soaked it in marvel mystery oil. That freed it up and I was going to run it but I ended up selling it out right to a fellow I met at an LHS who wanted it as a collectors item. I bought a Thunder Tiger EB4 S2 with a TTR Pullstart .21 engine. I had a heck of time getting it to run and it when it ran it was a screamer. I got it too lean an ruined it so i bought an OS max VG 21 engine and now the car screams. The pull start is not worth its just as the other guys have stated here, so get a good starter box like an ofna chrome top with a internal 12 volt gel cell. Anyways you would have to get a different motor mount for the pull start engine as the one that came with the mirage was for a non pull start 21BXR engine. Michael Johnston

A starter box is a much better option, less to go wrong.
