Default Remove glow ignitor, engine dies

Hi! I'm in the process of breakin-in the engine on my GS Storm buggy. Currently, I have the HSN needle at 4 turns out. As soon as I remove the glow ignitor, the engine dies. What is going on here?

Thanks,
Matt

I guess the low end needle could be too rich. There may be so much fuel coming in that it is wetting the plug too much. Try the pinch test with the glow ignitor on and see how long it goes.

I'll check the LSN tonight and will report what I find.

Thanks for all the advice!

I'd definitely try a new glow plug. IF MC Coy plugs are not available to you, try an OS A5. If it's still floods out, gently turn both your Idle and High mixture needles in until they stop I can not stess enough don't wrench them just turn until they give just a bit of resistance then re -set them to factory specs. If your motor has a midrange needle on the side of the carb leave it alone unless you've already turned it if so try to put it back to factory specs as well. If at all possible you should invest in a good temp gauge ASAP. This will help more than all the advice you can read.

Good Luck

its too rich but thats what it has to be for break in, I just leave the ignitor on till I can lean it out.

I replaced the stock glow plug w/ an OS 8 and I am able to now remove the glow ignitor and keep it running.

I got the temp up to 190 (w/ aluminum foil wrapped around the head) and I'm at approx 500 ft above sea level.

I didn't seem to have much smoke coming out the exhaust, there was a dribble of fuel/oil coming out the stinger, and then when I picked up the car, a lot of fuel/oil came out of the stinger.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions!
Matt
