Default RB WS7II , RB C5 , REX P5, NOVAROSSI, SIRIO, etc...

Can anyone tell me the diff between these engines? Which one is more of a race go getter? I want a fast engine with good low-end hole shot power. I seen a WS7II and when its tuned rights its pretty tough, how about the other two though??!?!? PRO's/CON's?!?!?!?!?! What makes the WS7II a 4 of 5 stars at the RB site and what makes the C5 a 5 of 5 stars?????

The WS7 II has a bit more low end torque but not as much top end speed as the C5 or P5

The P5 has a bit more low end, and is about equal on the top end.

The C5 is alot faster than both on the top end, but needs some clutch work to get on par with the low end torque of the other two. this might help

On a scale from 1-10

Low end power
WS7 II 8
REX P5 9
C5 6

High end power, max speed
WS7 II 7
REX P5 7.5
C5 10

that help?

Nitro, I am considering getting a C5 (regular version) what kind of clutch work needs to be done. I am also thinking of getting a RB 86 pipe and a waller power adapter. With that and the clutch work, how would you rate the low-end of the C5

I have a C5 Rody Team currently in my Slide. Thing screams. For the regular C5 in a buggy, by usuing the Mugen 1.2mm springs and teflon shoes, you can eliminate any low end hesitation. The foroni 2 piece sliding clutch is also an alternative. The C5 already has tons of top end, you can go with a 063 pipe to hlp the low end torque and still smoke most other engines on the straights.

Im gonna be using the MBX5 Mugen 3-clutch shoe Flywheel, Mugen 1.2mm springs and teflon shoes, and the O.S. T-2050 pipe. Its all going in my MBX5. What will this combo do for a C5?!?!? Will it match the other 2 engines low-end?

No the others will have a little more low end.If you run a open fast track get the C5, if it is tighter or smaller get the P5.

i agree with the above statement, although if you are a fan of RB, the WS7 II is almost as fast as the P5 and close enough for it not to matter in all but the closest races.

What break in procedure on a P5?!?!?! And how will the REX P5 go with a Mugen 3-clutch shoe Flywheel, Mugen 1.2mm springs and teflon shoes, and the O.S. T-2050 pipe???

It sounds like the P5 has the best of both worlds; torque and top speed.

Nitro, I already have an engine (Rossi Black Magic) that has tons of low-end and easily hang with the WS7II's and P5's at my tight track. (Sugarbowl in Ga). So I am going to buy an engine for tracks on the RC Pro Series Circuit. I know the one in Griffin, GA (I hear it's named Rodslingers for a reason) is an open track. Is a C5 a good engine for Boggy Creek or would you reccomend a WS7II or P5.

The P5 works great with the Mugen clutch and flywheel. The instructions have the procedure for break in,I can't remember exactly what it is. I know I idled a few tanks through it very rich and monitered the temps, then ran it around slow only blipping the throttle now and then, then I slowly leand it out a little every tank until it was at ripping!! It runs well pretty cool about 215-220 deg and still rips.I havent tried to lean it out any more to get more preformance, but it runs good cool.It is a very tight pinch in the cylinder especially at first, so I would put a hair dryer on it and heat it up before firing it up for the first time, and if it isn't loosened up next time do it again.

tkbrown - I am also racing the pro series this year. Practice for round one here at boggy creek is this coming saturday. It is my home track. PM me or check out the pro series thread i made in the regional racers forum for more info regarding your questions. Lets not derail this thread.

i know the 2 owners of the buggys in that short video clip
the buggy that pulls away is a Kyosho with a WS7II in it & the bright pink MBX5 has the P5!
it seems in pretty much every appliation the WS7II leaves the P5 behind on the Top end
the P5 is the best engine from Novarossi in a long time, but its not quite good enough to tempt me away from RB
the RB C5 is still the undisputed Daddy[8D]

maxmod - if racing at a large track, more low end is not needed. If your track is tight and small, switch to a 13tooth bell, and get heavy springs. The Mugen 1.2mm work the best for this application usually. You can also switch to a 063 pipe.

It sells for about 290.00USD and can be found at several online hobby shops.

Do a search for "RB Concepts" "WS 7 II" "Rody Modified" and you will find alot of them.

Here are just a few

Its seems to me that 50% say the WS7II and the other 50% say the P5. But they seem pretty much the same from what i gather. The C5 is great top end, but i dont wanna sacrafice low end for it. So i guess i gotta decide on one of the 2...

It's all in how you want to use it. Think about your home track and what's going to be best. The P5 has the bottom end where the C5 has the top end. Different engines for different tracks. Different strokes for different folks.

The tracks here arent really too big. Theres alot of jumps coming out of turns, and of the tracks i go to, theres not really alot of straights either. Each track has one straight to make up some time, but thats all. Not enough room to be worried about hitting top speed. So i guess i need a low end beast in my Mugen MBX5. Top End is not an issue for me at the track. i need to rip out the ground from the get go and out of the corners into a jump.....

If you need power for jumps out of corners then just buy a RG or the P5 for sure.
