Default Tire surfaces

O.K I have always wondered which type of tire tread really does what. At the moment I run at a grass track and everyone uses proline crimefighters. I think we may be moving to a dirt track and i just want to know which treads (spikey, small tread, large tread etc.) is best for what(grass, mud, loose dirt, sand etc.)

Regards
Smokey
