From: Elk Grove,
CA,
I just started breaking in a new Hyper 7 PCR this weekend. I found that most of the time when I take the time to put the body on, it ends up stalling. Basically it is running fine and then I get the body situated, pins in and hit the gas to go and it stalls. My current thought is that there is not enough air flow around the carb filter/intake when the body is in place. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
I am thinking I may cut a hole in the body on the side where the carb intake sits so that there is more air flow. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

are you still running rich?
it sounds like the prob is when you take the time to get the body on the engine is loading up and has to much fuel to burn , so when you hit the throttle it dies
try leaning it out on the LSN little by little
30 deg. at a time

I know it's a completely different car but with my (ex) inferno i had to take the car off the ground and rev it for a few seconds and then put it down.

yes for the retune to take effect you need to do a few high speed runs but, i would NOT rev it off the ground to often like that!
it over revs the engine and also can cause over heating. (no air moving over the cooling head)

hi attica
lynx is on the right trac there. make sure you lean the right lsn out or you will be in a world of pain. on the hypers there is one on the left under the fuel in and one on the right where the accc servo attaches. lean the one on the servo side. run it without the body till it can sit there for say 30 seconds then take off . its ok if it loads up a little just as long as it dosent bog or stall. the air flow should be fine with the body on

Well Lynx is on the right track indeed, But how many tanks have you put through it. Less than 10 I guess. When you are breaking in the engine you don't want the shell on and you should be doing it on level asphalt (Tarmac etc) so you don't over stress the engine. It will cut out if you leave it for a while idling, as lynx said it is just loading the case with fuel so eventually it hydro locks and stalls. a way around this is to trim it with a little throttle, don't adjust the radio, just use the radio trim. When you start tuning it only adjust the LSN, when that is set to how you want it then you can set the HSN. There should be no need to play with the MSN as this will upset everything and you'll start having nightmares until you get lucky and find it's point again.
