I'm completely new to R/C, and I'm looking to buy a buggy (I was originally going to get a stadium truck, but now I'm convinced buggies are much more my style). I definitely want a nitro rig, not an electric one, and I really can't spend more than $350....max. I won't be racing (at least not in the foreseeable future), I just want something to bash around with and run on dirt tracks for the heck of it. Durability is pretty crucial, and top speed is not that important, especially if I can hop it up later to get more speed and power. A good availability for hop-up parts would be nice too. I've been reading forums, and it seems that a relatively good first buggy is the OFNA Ultra MBX Pro RTR. I'd like a kit, but I think an RTR will have to do given my pricerange (I can always just take it apart and rebuild it anyway). I think I can get the MBX Pro for around $330 on e-bay (new of course). Are there any buggies I'm overlooking? The MBX is only 2WD right? Will that suck on dirt? I appreciate any help anyone can give (sorry for the long post, just want to be thorough). Thanks a bunch.

All 8th scale buggies are 4WD, including the MBX. For your budget, the two you listed are about the only choices. Both are fairly durable buggies, and if you are new to nitro, will be plenty fast.
Try using the search button in the upper right corner of the screen for more info on this topic. It has been discussed before, and you should find a wealth of information here already. Good luck, and welcome to 8th scale.
