I have a kyosho inferno sports and the engine is "toast" due to accident. Im looking to get a new engine and its been about 4 months for looking around. During that time, ive added many kanai hop-ups including 3 shoe clutch shoes, flywheel, etc., but i still have the origional chassy to accept a pullstart motor. Do you have any recomendations for engines? my price tag range is roughly 200 max ready to go.. Im leaning toward the os rg-x engine, but im not sure what to decide on. I have the kanai 3 mounts so I need an engine that will fit. Ive looked at XTM and DYNAMITE for their big block engines, but I dont think thats a good choice. Im looking for good power, but a reliable engine as well, hence my ambition to buy a rg-x. If you are selling one new, let me know! Thanks for any feedback! heres a pic!

the rg-x is a good choice, it comes with engine spacers to mount it....never saw the dynamite but the xtm runs good. Can't compare them cause the xtm was in a buggy and the rg-x is in a savage. You might need a new header and should get a better pipe....if you go rg-x they have an adapter to let you use the spring mount headers, you should get a front chassis brace too.

i would go with a Hyper .21 8-Port engine, its about £160-£170 (depending on where you go.) the hyper .21 engine is a really powerful engine. its hard to get it broken in to start with, but after that is done, it can produce the sort of power you can only dream of handling. (don't let the "breakin in" part put you off it). its really a reliable engine and fast (as most hyper owners would probably tell you. if you have the correct gears for this engine, you are looking at a speed at about 50Mph, but with a higher percentage nitro, engine tuning and upgrades, it can go alot faster. the engine uses a starter box to get running, but you should be able to put on a pull starter for it.
i would go with this engine if you want powre!!!
hope this helped!

The RG-X won't blow you away in terms of power, it won't be all too different to the stock engine. If you must have pullstart, I think the Picco .26 would be your best bet for PS power. An 8port Race would be nice too, going along the lines of the above post.
You also don't need the Sports chassis to accept pullstart, most other bigblock PS motors use compact pullstart units which will fit fine with the standard kyosho engine mounts and all chassis units.

Ok, What is a good site to buy engines online. I know about towerhobbies and acehardwarehobbies, but are there anymore? I might look into a rb or paris picco engine. I will be sure to get a aluminum front torque rod and possibly a aluminum rear one as well. Maybe even a k3 chassy. Is anyone sure if the K3 mounts will be able to clear the pullstart of the rgx? will they fit in terms of dimensions? Im not looking fer a super race engine, but something to start with. I dont really want a nonpullstart cuz thats another expesnse of startbox... but that seems like a good way to go. Im now pondering a max of 250 to get my buggy back in action(exculding fuel and glow plug). Would any of you recommend some .21 engines, starter boxes, manifold, pipe? Thanks for all your help so far!!

Interesting that I hear all this talk about how good the hyper 8-port motors are and everyone I know locally that has run one gets killed out on the track. every track I've been to locally (whether it's oval, long, short, lots of jumps, or lots of turns) the 8-port either gets hot and flames out or acts blubbering rich. I've seen a 110 dollar OS RG destroy the 8-port. Just my 2cents.

nope, not a user error. i too had one and loved it until i couldnt keep it tuned between heats. retuning for each qualifier got old fast. im not the only one with this problem either. this is why the people who run the 8 port and swear by it also recomend buying an o.s. rg carb. ive heard they cost about $80 but havent checked into it myself (so dont jump me if im wrong!).
after about 2-3 weeks of fighting that motor i got a used o.s. v01b (another headache and long story) but thats when i decided to drop the $ for a good motor and i got an RB WS7II. long story short- i hated it. oh...im rambling...
for the $ my vote would be the rg. great power and very reliable.

I'm running an MP-6 and I dropped in A Sirio .21 AAC buggy engine that I got New on Ebay for $200. It was a B**CH to break in, but it has rediculous power at the top and bottom end, and i've barely leaned it out yet. I have yet to see it get over 205 degrees. I know that it might be a little more than you want to spend, but I thought I'd toss my 2 cents in.
