Default RE: Official Hyper 7 Thread!

I have a Hyper PBS with the PCR laydown style servo installed. I have ran about 2.5 gallons thru the motor already the motor seems to run great when there are no carburator problems. I would get some pictures but I have no camera. I have broken only the wing on it so far but I think my rear shock tower may be a little bent. I have been doing some serious bashing with it thanks to degass and his videos. I kept telling myself my car can do that and more. HEHE. As hopups go I have added some solid dish wheels with some proline crime fighters. The stock wheels get to dirty due to the exhaust. I also added the Ofna 063 pipe. My local hobby shop has a pretty tight track and I was wondering whats a good motor for a tight style track? I need something with more torq than my standard 8 port but also without the carburator problems I get from it. I have heard the OS 21 RG has more power on the bottom end compared to the standard 8 port is this true? I dont care if its slower than the 8 port because the track doesnt have large enough straits. I am really in the market for a new carburator since the OS 20E carb I bought wont run either. I put a little silicone around the needels and it helps some but not much. It still doesnt run like it does the day I got it. Plus the OS motor is only a 120 bucks. You cant beat that right? How is the 8 port races carb? Is it the same as the standard 8 port.

I'm not going to be getting any repair bills in the mail because of this am I? Anyway, the OS RG is a great engine and best of all, it comes with the 20E carb. I've had 4 RG's now and they will smoke the 8 port on takeoff!. The 8 port will kill the RG on the top end though so there is definitely a trade off. Also, the 8 port race uses the same carb as the standard 8 port, so thats definitely not the answer to your problem. Don't give up on the 20E. If you're having problems with it, new needles are pretty cheap at Tower. One other thing, if you're using an RTV around the needles, make sure it is an "oxygen safe" one or you will have all sorts of problems.

What do you mean bills? You havnt recieved any yet. I have been sending them for a couple months now. . Your answer about the engine was the answer I was hoping for. I will be ordering it tomorrow. I might also change the clutch bell to kinda even it out a little. We will see. What is the difference in the pilot shaft version. Which one will I need? Also is the motor a direct bolt in or do I need to change the mounts? When I get my tax money back I am planning on purchasing a digital video camera so I will have some video up of me hitting my dirtbike jumps. What was your address again? LOL. Thanks.

Oh yeah can you also point me to the direction of the needels at tower. There seems to be a ton of carbs and carb parts there from OS.

Ressurection,

I asked the wife about the bills you've been sending and apparently, she has seen them. Since it said RessurectionX though, she though it was a subscription to an online porn place, so she tossed them. Sorry!!!!

Here's the needles you need for the OS20E:
LSN - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...80&FVPROFIL=++
HSN - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXF10&P=7 & http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCR52&P=7

Not quite as cheap as I thought however it's still better than buying a new carb. As for the engine itself, get the one with the SG shaft, it's a direct bolt in to the H7 and no mods are necessary: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBZ33&P=7

Oh yeah, the check is in the mail

Thanks for your help dagass. I was just running my car on the street and pulled the carb out and it seems to be leaking out of the screw that stops the carb from opening completely.

It's leaking from the guide screw on the throttle arm?

i just don't understand how manufacturers can sit and watch as the PCR and PBS are selling like hotcakes, and yet they produce no upgrades, custom parts, or hop- ups yet. The mini T is nowhere near as much fun as these 1/8th scale, and yet Losi and other companies made millions off of it by producing tons of upgrades for it. Even hop- ups came out before it was even produced. I wish some company would bring out a line of OFNA performance.... just like firioni does with the kyosho, GS, and others. When is OFNA going to hit the top like that? What is up?

One more quick question before I purchase. Does the pullstart version allow me to use my starter box? I mean I know the ofna motor you can use either starter box or pullstart. I would like the pullstart because it does come in handy and its the only version of the motor that is in stock at towerhobbies, and I cant seem to find the non pullstart anywhere else for the same price.

Well, I dont have a radar gun or any other way to check top speed, so, I'm guessing my Hyper7 PBS/PCR RTR is in the high 40mph range. Thats what the mags get out of it anyway.
You're reading the wrong mags, then. It (H7PBS) tops out just under 40mph.

ozhyper7,
Thanks for that pantload of a post, I'm still LMAO!

LOL! Who?

I'll say it again, the stock PBS will hit about 38 mph with the 14 tooth bell(That's the one it comes with).

LMFAO Sherak. You still banned from Ofna.com?

Sorry was 37mph average, fingers like pigs **** today.

41.46Mph is available on paper with a 14T bell and the max rpm rating of the 9 port. Othere engines with higher rpms can improve on this.

You had me worried grahama89, because I know you're very knowledgable about the H 7. Your twin buggy is awesome. Have you a video of it running yet?

Actually Sherak, I wish I could get those mags, you know what we're stuck with over here. RCCA and the other rags they put out aren't worth much, in my opinion. [:'(]
