Default Going to start racing...

well i went to watch a race this weekend and the 1/8 buggies were just AMAZING. i have a savage with TONS of hop-ups and a rc10gt (but its a basher) and a 4wd sportmaxx with a lot of hop-ups. so i want a nice buggy to race with. there two choices i have in mind and only two...xtm's xterminator pro and ofna's hyper 7 pcr. i realize the xterminator has a "non-race legal" engine...but i'll put that aside. i won't to know which one ya'll think is better for racing. i beleive that the xtm would prdocue more power and speed but the hyper looks more raceworthy...so i am leaning towards the hyper. whichever one i buy, i'll put a hitec 9645 servo a 6v hump pack...so the stock servo doesn't matter. any help would be great!

Go for the hyper, the x-term's engine has high hp yes, but it lacks the rps(28000 i believe) The hyper is more.. well race inspired and the hopups are very available. Are you going to go with a rtr or a kit? If a kit, consider some of the inferno kits... or mugen,

If your getting into racing in RTR from your best bang for the buck is the Hyper 7 PBS, Completley race legal and with a better radio/servos you are up and racing. Even the stock tires on the track did really well on our clay track.

thanks guys...i am going for rtr just because of its ease...though i will loc-tite EVERYTHING. the hyper does seem like a better racer. i already have an xs3 and a 9645 in my savage so, i'll buy a new receiver for it too. if i'm not minstaken...the difference between the pbs and pcr are the laydown servos...are laydown servos better? lower cg, but wooop, servos aren't very heavy, nor tall. pcr or pbs and whats bad about this buggy?

The only difference that I have seen is the laydown servos and the pcr comes with a pull start as well. Everything else looks to be the same. Steer clear of the laydown servos.

The reason for not wanting the lay down servos has been discussed on this forum extensively. do a search. Not trying to be mean but i just dont feel like typing it all out again and again.

That starter box should work...but I would recommend the Ofna 1/8th scale boxes with the twin 550 motors and power panel and gel cell battery. I think they run like $95 on ebay for the whole set. all you need is a charger and your good to go. I just bought one off there and the seller sold me a charger for it for an additional $7.50.

I Bought my pbs from jzmelton on ebay or speedzone raceway, same person for $399 plus $8 shipping and I had it in 3 days. Check with him he should have more in stock now. That came with everything.

Not anymore!!! They are phasing the regular PBS out and its all PCR from now-on unless you find a PBS somewhere else......I talked to the dude at Ace today and they have made 3 running changes to the PCR buggy since they put it out....Adding a little more to each change so make sure you ask whoever that they have the latest buggy from Ofna! I would go talk to Ace, he seemed really knowledgable about them. They should have some in stock by the end of the week.......

Nope, you will get laydown servo tray installed! He said they were coming out and you had to install the lay down yourself, but know they do it for you and some other little things he said??????

I looked under that name and I didnt see any that he had? Maybe Ill go check again

Id rather have it the old way, in a bag. Or atleast I hope they include the standard servo tray in a bag.

I just dont trust my $300 worth of servos that close to the chasis with that much of its surface possibly touching it during a hard landing or what not. Its a stupid design!
