Default Pipes

Can anyone tell me which is the better pipe ?

RB Concept 9863 or OFNA 063

Any advantages with either pipe or is it just the name ?

Thanks

I wish pipes werent so expensive []. Right now a Pipe is the last thing on my list. I need new tires, a new chassis, and new shocks. One of my rear shocks blew out and I didnt notice so it was really flemsy and I drove it around for a while and it scraped up the rear end of the chassis so its like 2/3 or 1/2 the normal thickness and the screw holes are starting to bulge out.

But the sad thing is I can only afford one of these 3!!!

Anyways, back on topic. The stock Storm pipe is really loud, plus everyone says it sucks. Any DECENT replacement pipes for around 30 dollars or less? Should I check ebay?

After I moded my Ofna 063, I would say that it is better than my RB. Look at the "If you have an OFNA pipe and want more power..." thread.

yes there is a slight power advantage from using the RB pipe
this is due to the different resonance of the materials used in construction & as we all know 2 stroke engines are very sensitive to exhaust tuning!
go for the pipe that has been developed & tested & even manufactured to be the best[8D]
or the pipe that is a sub standard copy that needs grinding out due to poor quality manufacturing[:'(]
have you seen how off centre those manifolds are[X(] to sell that as a performance enhancing upgrade is almost a case of fraud

If compression waves and expansion waves reflect whenever strikng the end of a closed chameber, why would it matter what alloy the aluminum is?? I have both an RB and an OFNA 063 and since the mod, the OFNA feels like the beefier pipe. And I am able to perform a straight A-B test. Please explain your resonance theory.

I can vouche for the Ofna pipe the mod kicks, there is no way you can justify the price of the RB pipe versus the ofna pipe, you can buy 2 ofna pipes for the price of an RB pipe. I say if you have the RB cash get a 063 and a 086 ofna pipe, then you can have whatever you want..

i have slso read a more detailed analysis on this difference in materials but cannot remember where i saw it
it was possibly on the Serpent Forums at www.mytsn.com
now those on road 1/8 boys know everything there is to know about going Very fast

Pros and cons again, I agree with Adam and Fourbolt for different reasons, mainly the material does make a difference, due to expansion rates mainly, as the RB is thicker it doesn't expand as much and is a bit stronger against dents and such. But With the Mod carried out the the manifold of the OFNA, it is a far more responsive pipe than the RB for less bux, but you will be bending it back into shap more often (if you do it while it's still warm it's better). So IMO balancing out the 2 sides and taking price into consideration, I would go for the OFNA, But if you go to www.microtechracing.com and look at the pipes section then there are some nice RD Logics jobies that just whoop the ass off of both of them. I run all 3 pipes in question on various buggies and find the RD to be the best and surprisingly cheapest.

N.B. If www.microtechracing.com gives you a page unavailable error. Clear your cookies and temp files. Then try again.

some buddies who run motorcross babble about pipes all the time....supposedly resonance and heat retention is a big factor in two strokes....I'm going by a friend who makes pipes and try to make a pipe out of the same steel they use.
