I purchased a xtm x-terminator buggy in december of last year and have had alot of fun with it, but after 1 gallon of gas my engine either over heated or something and was destroyed. I asways use a temp gun so unless its inaccurate it shouldnt have over heated. My question is should i put the money into it to get a new engine or sell the chassis, so if you guys could help me by telling me what the chassis is worth or what is a good new engine to buy I would be very greatfull. Just so you know im a freshman in high school who only works 4 hours a week so i dont got alot of cash.

My advice is keep it and buy a new engine. Since your on a budget I would get something farely inexpensive, that is very easy to tune and reliable with ok performance. Look at the OS RG-X. I think there around 130-140.
Also are you positive the engine is dead?

The engine is destoyed, it locked up so i took it into my local hobbyhop and he said that the cylander has 3 major gouges and the piston is deformed. ive been thinking about an engine the hobbyshop guy told me about he said its a .26 its an os dimamite for its $130. Do you guys think that a hobby shop would let me trade the chassis in for a decent electric car, if so what are some good ones?

Jeeze i'll trade you up for the chassis. I've got a Kyosho Outrage ST (don't laugh yet) that i've had for about 6 years that has been hopped up quite a bit. Full bearings, better shocks, really nice motor with lots of brushes and goodies. I've raced it against rc-10T3's and Lossi stadium trucks and its quite competitive. I was usually the fastest truck on the track. I've got loads of spare parts too, but you won't really need them cuz this is a really durable truck. Never jumped or bashed or abused. Hit me up if you're interested or want pictures ect. I'm just trying to get into 1/8th scale buggies, and if it means parting with my first rc truck, then i'm willing to do so

So, for them at least and probably for you too, it's just easier for them to sell the car for you so you can get your money out of it(don't worry, most LHS only want a 10-15% cut from the sale anyways, so that you can get the most money).
As for good electric buggies, I don't think there is a 1/8 scale E-Buggy; but either the Losi XXX buggy or the Team Associated B3 or B4 RTR are really good buggies, very race-ready right out of the box.
