Default Top P5 pipe question

Which pipe are you running with your nova based P5?

I just got my first gallon or so through this engine and i love it - i'm running an Ofna 053 with a Waller adapter and it has good low end but a little weaker on top than my other engine (OS VZ-B).

i'd like to hear how some other pipes perform with this engine.

Also if anybody has run the 421B, how does it compare to the P5.

I ran the RB 063 and RB 086 with and w/o waller and long header. I found that with the 063 it got horrible run times and tons of bottom end power. Too much. I run the RB 086 on it now, toned down the bottom end a notch, but still has plenty and the top end came to life.

The 421B is one of my favorite motors. I run it with the AB 053 pipe, and it has Similar bottom end grunt ot the P5, but with tons more Top End pulling power. Likes to run a little hot though. But dont mind it. After a gallon or so through it the temps should drop.

Good info, thanks. A lot of the locals run the 086 (and 9886) so i'll try one of theirs. Do you run the 086 with or without the Waller? I'm guessing without?

My P5 runs a little hot too so far but i'm sure it will start dropping now that there's almost a gallon through it.

I ran the 086 @ first and just recently switched to the 063...I am not going back anytime soon either... The 063 is sick...my buggy has much better take off for jumps..and sick power

hey skyline350gt-

im liking my 421b so far (even more than my old P5's) and have about 15 tanks through it. from tank 8 to about tank 10 the motor kept richening itself. did you have this problem too? it stopped after the races really got going and ran steady for the day (250-270F) but im wondering how much cooler it will run after the full break-in.
oh- and what size carb restrictor are you using and why?

henderson- any top-end pipe will work good with that motor. after about 1.5-2 gallons of fuel your bottom end should really wake up and you will have no need for the waller adapter. 9886/086 pipes are good and so is the O.S. 2050. i just got a Jammin JP-1 pipe and love it on my 421b which has similar characteristics of the P5. i think its a low/mid range pipe but it seems to work very good with the top side as well.

K-Car. After initial break in my 421B was running about 305 at the end of the 5 minute qualifiers. Ive got about a gallon through it now and last weekend it was temping at 265 at the end of 15 minute mains. Im using the #8 restrictor, mainly because it just plain works. I get about 7 minutes run time with it ans great power delivery. Im running the Nova Turbo #6 plugs in it and the AB 053 pipe. I will try the OS T-2050 on it this weekend to see if theres a difference. I also ran the o86 with waller on it as well. Had great results. But the AB 053 suited last weekends track perfectly.
