Engine Selection, Need A Little Help Please.
I'll apologize in advance if this topic seems "Old Hat", but I'd like a little more information than I've found thru searching old threads.
I'm trying to decide on an engine for my 777 SP1, unfortunately the more I research the topic the harder the choice becomes. I’ve narrowed the field down to three engines, but a clear choice has yet to emerge. The engines I’m considering are: RB WS7II, Novarossi RX21P5, and the O.S. V-Spec. Could those of you with firsthand experience with these engines provide some basic pros and cons for each, also with respect to the P5 please comment on the turbo verses non-turbo version. Thanks.

I have had all of those motors and the V-Spec has definitely dissapointed me on more than one occasions on more than one motor. I don't recommend it. The WS7II was nice- long life- great durability and FAST- but my recommendation would be for the Turbo Button P5. Dollar for Dollar you are not going to find a better motor on the market. Its wicked fast- great mileage- great durability. Turbo button to squeeze more top end out of it- better fuel mileage- but use a slightly hotter plug as its a bit more finicky in tuning versus the standard button. but nothing too bad. Novarossi Top P5T.

Thanks SKYLINE350GT.
From previous posts you seem to have a good historical knowledge of Novarossi, is there any difference between the Novarossi, Top, and Rex brands or is it just a distributorship issue?

Between those three it's just a distributorship issue. Also the Picco P7-R is a great motor as well. I just bought a couple to try out and I love it. Got a handful of gallons through it so far. I've got one extra I can get rid of for cheap. Let me know if your insterested. PM me

Yea the JP FX B5-N Stock is an awesome engine as well. It's a P5 Variant with a slightly different crank timing. Has more top end than a regular P5. Great motor for the money- and has Novarossi's reliability since its made by them. And they are around $310 nowadays since the price hike.

Another vote for the P5 here. I have the TOP. Great low end power. Not as much top end as my other engine (OS VZ-B). I run the Jammin JP-1 with it.
A lot of guys at my local track (Dirt Burners in Commerce MI) run the WS7II and love it but i've never owned one.

I have the RB WS 11 and it is very fast... I've had a few O.S motors they are a great frist motor,, very easy to tune, and they idle great.. But the RB rips.... at my home town track in California the RB is pretty much the motor to have

Thanks for all the input.
An RB engine is definitely in my future, most likely the WS7 II. Now if I could just stop looking at that damn RB C5[X(], things would be a lot easier. At least I have until tax refund time to decide just which RB engine it will be, thanks again.

ok fellas
i have had just about every motor under the sun for 1/8th scle buggy.....if someone tells you anything is better than a jp its because they cant afford a jp....my second choice is the ws7II...but it will not hold a candle to a jp...if you can still find any available novarossi produced a jp modified version called the m2k i highly reccomend it over the new fx series.......
remember guys jp is the bad boy on the block

The M2K doesn't even hold a candle to the New JP FX B5-N Stock much less the B5-N Mod. The M2K is a nice mill don't get me wrong- I had a few of them- I had about 4 of them- got em at $289 a piece. Great motor- but the Jp FX B5-N Stock will work it all through the powerband. The mod would annihilate it.

rj
i belive the rb c5 is an on road motor
[/quote]
If you've had every motor under the sun you'd know that the RB Concepts C5 comes in Offroad form as well. RB #01005-B Is the Offroad mill. #01005-C is the Onroad mill. #01005-M Is the Marine Mill.
Maybe you should get a JP FX and compare it to the M2K and give us your FACTUAL experience on the mills as I have done in the past.

By The Way- Medial Pro still makes the M2K- it comes with a Blue Head now and is readily available all over the place- It's just not very popular despite its attractive price.

Turbo head button motors?? Are Outlaw Motors?? Ummm..NO. Turbo head motors are completely race legal!! 110% in any sanctioned race. The only requirements are that they have to be .21 in size.

RE: Engine Selection, Need A Little Help Please.
Next your gonna say that modified motors are not race legal either!!! LOL!!!
You not only have your car kits/ products mixed up but also have you race classes/rules mixed up. I'd hate to be stuck with you as my LHS!!! LOL!!!
I feel bad for the r/c crowd in St. Joseph MO! Hopefully for there sake there are more knowledgable LHS's in your area.
I hope you realize your in the 1.8th scale buggy thread right?
