Default Starter Box

Hello Fellow addicts, I am new to 1/8 scale buggies, is having a starter box good to have? I am getting a buggy that does not have roto start. It has a pull start. And do all 1/8 scale starter boxes fit? I am looking into a xtm xterminator. Any tips? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the 1/8th scale buggys

Starter boxs are not a must...............but they sure do make it easyier to start them.
Myself like the pull start system as when out bashing if it stalls its esay to start if your nowhere near your starter box.
Most if not all race engines dont have a pullstart so the have to have a box.
As far as i know most starter box's will fit all buggys.

Hope this helps a bit.

Does anyone have experience with the Thunder Tiger starter box? It seems to be the only one that my lhs has, and it is rather expensive to get one shipped from overseas.

Best starter box is the chrome top Ofna with the single 720 motor in it. Ofna also makes a slightly cheaper one with two 540 motors in it but it is not nearly as powerful.

When I was breaking in my OS, the twin 540 box could not even turn the motor over, but the single 720 had no problems at all.

The chrome top box goes for about $80 without the battery. It's a little expensive but well worth it.

I agree with Richie that a pull starter is nice if you stall away from your starter box.

Overall though i like engines without pull starters, roto starts etc. They have less moving parts, less complexity, less weight and less headaches from parts breaking.
