Default sportwerks mayhem aftermarket parts anywhere

First thing, I'm new to this message board, so I may very well ask some silly or stupid question as a newbie, not new to the hobby, been in it since the 1970's, so nitro is nothing new to me. Have raced Delta pan cars on the east coast, Associated RC10's in the 70's and 80's, dropped out of the hobby for a few years came back 3 years ago, better equipment now for sure. Just purchased a Sportwerks Mayhem, excellent buggy. All broken in, and ready to run at the track. Does anybody know if there are any aftermarket parts for the mayhems? Talking a arms, shock towers, shocks etc anything to improve the performance of a great buggy to make it just a little bit better than the next guy. How about bodies what fits that is clear to be painted, factory bodies are out of stock until April.

I have one and it is the best buggy I have come accross so far. Here's what you need to do if you want to really turn yours into a winner.

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTT13&P=ML]Airtronics 94358 (High Torque Steering Servo)[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJAT3&P=ML]Jammin JP-1 (Pipe)[/link]

[link=http://www.southeastrc.com/item/OFN10212]5 Cell Hump Receiver Pack[/link] and [link=http://www.southeastrc.com/item/DTXP4005]Charger[/link]

Silicone Diff Oil (Wieght depends on your track conditions and driving style)

[link=http://www.southeastrc.com/item/PRO901411]Pro-Line Crime Fighters (Tires)[/link]

One other thing that I would seriously consider would be replacing the shocks with Kyosho's with blue springs. I didn't do this until I broke a stock shock shaft, but I am very pleased with the results. The car handles much better in just about every condition.

[link=http://www.southeastrc.com/item/PRO310800]Pro-Line Crowd Pleazer 7.5 (Body)[/link]
You can also find some pretty good pre-painted ones on e b a y. [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5953483052&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT]Here's one[/link]

I've done all of these and this buggy runs flawlessly. The only other thing you need to get a handle on is the tuning and the little tweaks you do to adapt to each track condition.

Good Luck!

I forgot one VERY important thing you need to address.

The [link=http://www.southeastrc.com/item/OFN10010]Clutch Shoes[/link] and [link=http://www.southeastrc.com/item/MUGC0708]Clutch Springs[/link]
Those stock clutch shoes are going to be eaten to pieces in no time. These new shoes and springs will also give you much better performance (less clutch slippage). Some people recommend the aluminum shoes but I have not had good luck with them on my Mayhem. They expand quite a bit when they get hot and I have had three clutch bell berings explode because of these shoes. I've been running the OFNA black carbon shoes since, with no problem.

[8D][8D]Thanks for all the information. Are the springs and clutch shoes a direct replacement or do I need to modify them to fit? I lucked out in that I picked up a crowd pleaser body about a month ago and its been sitting here waiting for some airbrush skulls and flames, I paint Harleys thats why I do not want any pre-painted bodies.

justinWZP, the shocks you are talking about, are they the inferno shocks with the 3.5 shaft? You have no problems with the blue shock springs. Since they are a soft spring I would think you wouls bottom out alot.

Wait wait wait....When did proline start making Crowd PLeazer bodies for the Sportwerks Mayhem?? Please fill me in here. And if you bought the body for a different buggy, you do know that the rear body mount sits much higher than any other buggy, right? Unless I am totally missing something here...

I just tried an old Pro-Line Inferno body on my brothers Mayhem and it looks good. Body posts no problem. Just slightly different cut-outs for engine, pipe, etc.. We've been lookin for a better looking body for the Mayhem and this is it. Thanks.

The clutch shoes and springs are a direct replacement so you do not need to do any modifications for them to work. And yes, I am talking about the ones with the 3.5mm shafts. I don't have the exact part numbers but I remember I got the ones with the 3.5mm shafts because I broke two other shafts (one from my stock shocks and another set of OFNA's). The blue spings are perfect for most track conditions and most racers typically run these springs. 1/8 scale buggies frequently bottom out regardless of which springs you choose. The blue springs give superior cornering and traction performance and I highly recommend them. If you get all of the things I have listed at once (as I did) you are going to feel like you are driving a totally different buggy. I practiced for about a week with the stock setup, then I made all of the mods, and they made the car so much easier to handle that I now feel like I'm a professional when I go out to the track. I have yet to find anyone who can run consistantly quicker than me at the track. People constantly are asking "what kind of buggy is that thing?" I like these Mayhems because everyone with any experience is usually running a Kyosho, Mugen, XB8, etc. and I think that these Mayhems are just as good and sometimes better than all of them. Racers are typically stunned when I tell them that I just got the car a month ago because I am running with them. I tell them that, honestly, the buggy makes it so easy that I pretty much just have to concentrate on not putting it into the wall and I always do well.

nurch: Pro-Line does not make a body for the Mayhem. However, the Crowd Pleazer for the Kyosho 7.5 is almost a perfect fit. I actually like it better than stock because it gives a little better clearance for my air filter which normally pushes down on my throttle linkage with the stock body.

JustinWZP, is this the body?

This is part number: 3108-00 on Pro-Line's website.

If so, could you provide some pictures on how it looks mounted on the Mayhem? You have now sparked my super interest. I thought I would be stuck with this body design forever. It isn't bad, and it is quit functional, but I am used to how the more traditional bodies handle.

I checked Horizon Hobby to find gears they have 12-16 clutch bell and 46 tooth only for the spur. If you want shorter gearing than that you may be able to experiment with the Mayhem ST's crown gear and bevel gears on the driveshaft/diff case in the front and rear to make your ratio fall in line with the clutch bells and spur gears available for your car.

Sportwerks has their own line of hop-ups themselves. Machined aluminum suspension arms, shock towers ect. My bro has a Mayhem ST and it is fast and sweet.

Right. The reason I said I checked Horizon Hobby is because they are the distributor of Sportwerks.

Hey guys. Had a question for you, does anybody know of a one piece motor mount for the mayhem, or from Losi that fits the mayhem.
I have a xtm 457 and keep bending the motor mounts.
Thank you
Jason
