I've just discovered a crack in my S3 chassis. I also found another driver with the same crack, same place. Thats 2 of 3 S3's at our indoor track with broken chassis.
I'm not sure how much this crack will effect the performance, at least until it gets replaced. Any ideas?
I've talked with the distributor, and it seems they are going to replace it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

That falls in place with the "something's gotta give theory" you need a little flex in the rc cars to make them durable. It's probably going to keep happening.

i race on a very bumpy track..and never had any probs...if the screws on ur centerdiff mount were loose at ALL...it will cause the chassis to break in that very spot. I know some guys have drilled and tapped the screw holes to 4mm to use a bigger screw..i have not had mine come loose yet..so no worries from me yet

I just talked to Ace, and they are sending me out a new chassis tomorrow. I understand this is a new product, and what kind support I get matters alot more than the fact that it broke. So far the support is as good as I could expect.
I do like the S3, the acceleration is noticably better than my Kanai, and after the abuse this thing took last weekend, I would say that its a VERY durable car. ( except the broken chassis that cracked before it was driven or crashed hard ) Hey, I did jump on the S3 band-wagon, but I'm going to give it more time before I jump off it.

by the way everyone i just broke my lst out in front of my house .....we still have several inches of snow here and yesterday it got warm then froze again so you can walk on the snow with out sinking ...i was hitting the snowplow banks at the end of my driveway and launching the lst 10' in the air and about 20 ' out it was kill er.....the old plastic arms wouldnt take the cold today and finally broke...hah its ok i got 10 more arms in the tool box

Welcome to the year 2005! TTR Now has excellent customer service- and really takes our input into consideration. Ace Will definitely replace the chassis, "They didnt make it, they didn't break it"???? HAHAHHAHA- Ace is the importer- they deal with ALLLLLLL Of our TTR issues. Parts are extremely readily available at tons of hobyshops online and physical locations all over.
Once again- Welcome to the Year 2005, MotoPro!

I only wish that was true about shops by me. I had to rule out the S3 because NO ONE carries their stuff where I live. I have a decent amount of hobby shops within driving distance too.

do i detect a little resentment in your text.....dont attack me...i just stated a fac t for our area tt has had a bad rap in the past.As a biz owner myself i realize that it is a bad thing to tick off your customers and expect them to come back just cuz you finally decided to take care them.....welcome to 2005 i did that back on january 1st it still has nothing to do with this issue...
by the way how long is that turn around from ace..do they have to wait for japan to send them overseas befor this guy gets a new one or did they anticipate this problem and stocked up ahead of time?? hmmmm..
like i said i applaud ace for taking care of the guy....

If Ace is supposed to be sending you a new chassis.....you might receive a T-Maxx or something, but its still not a bad deal because you can sell the T-Maxx and buy 4 chassis'.

...ACE has stepped it up greatly
the plastics are top notch..and the buggy is of the highest grade overall...and customer service is some of the best i have delt with
I dont come on hear saying i wont buy OFNA garbage again cause their materials suck....tanks leak...hingepins dont have the E clip grooves in..are overall low quality..so they will always suck...So before u have first hand experience with a product..its good to shut ur face
The X1 is a great buggy..and anyone will be happy with it...but to say TTR is crap...is udder stupidity

LMAO.
But thats the third S3 chassis I've seen like this and in the UK you wouldn't get it replaced, fair wear and tear it's called. But you are lucky this time, don't expect to see it replaced again.
I've also seen these chassis' folded where the top brace plates have snaped and the box section has literally clamped the center diff and bent the disks and bones. Basically it's so strong that when you land it hard there is no flex nd something has to give. Problem is it's the expensive bits that are giving.
