Just checking im getting this right.
Have a Hyper 7 with Collari SX2200 engine. Started it for first time yesterday. Engine was quick to start up but after a couple of minutes, it would rev up and down, like pulsing the throttle. There was no movement of the throttle servo or carb so it has to be to do with the engine itself. The engine would also cut out about 4 seconds after removing glow starter.
My guess so far is an air leak. Stripped it down and noticed one of the 6 screws holding the head was missing so replaced it but havent had chance to test again yet. It also had 2 head shimms fitted which seemed to be giving it quite a lot of clearance.
Last problem was oil around the engine but i've put this down to the exhaust manifold not sitting right and leaking from the manifold seal.
Am i going down a logical path or am i missing another potential cause to the revving.

I'd blame the shims for the cutting out, not enough compression...as for the potential air leak, maybe you solved it with the screw. As for the oil leak, if it's at the back, then I'd say manifold seal, but have you checked the front bearing, that's a common source of oil...I can't say I'd fault your logic on most of those, and nothing else immediately springs to mind as potential causes...test it again and let us know what it's doing...

Thanks for the quick reponse guy's.
Engine is nearly new!!!! (or so was said). Hyper was second hand but you can never take anything regarding engine usage for granted.
Hadnt thought about oil from front bearing, i'll have a look at that.
Must admit, never shimm'd a head before so thats a bit new to me. Think i'll drop one of them off if the screw hasnt fixed it. Read up on it but it seems a bit trial and error.
foxy42 - read a few of your posts, and wondered, at least i know its not your age now....

I remember that age well.
Well, not that well actually, seems so damn long ago now.
Haven't changed glow plug yet, using the one supplied which works, but after checking it, seems a bit dull. Got an MC9 to drop in so that may work better.
Does anyone know what the stock settings are for collari engines or should i just use the "standard" ones.
