Which so far...........it looks like i'm the only one who has given any advise at all.
yes you sure have, but i think when he says the "baddest" motor, i think he means fast, not actually "Bad"

OK, for starters I sent Tim 2 motors to do. A brand new collari modified Sirio .12 5 port and a Sirio .21 PRO on-road with all new internal parts. When I got them back neither motor would hardly run. After inspecting them I found the crank and sleeve port timing to be so far out that it was a wonder they even cranked at all. I idled about half a quart through the .21 and the crank broke into at the back of the port where he had cut too shape of a radius in the corners. It had a brand new RB C5 carburetor that he beveled or tapered the bottom on to get it into the case that now slides out of any motor I try to put it in. The con rod was ruined when the crank broke. The sleeve cannot be used because of the butcher job he did on it as well as the case. He ruined the combustion chamber head by cutting slots or grooves in it. So really the only thing salvageable is the piston. As for the .12, nothing has broke in it yet but I attribute that to the fact that it won’t run. No matter what I do, I try to crank it and it floods. I even adjusted the needles down to a half turn out and it still spits fuel out the exhaust. Then as soon as you try to give it some gas, it floods out. I had the timing looked at by two other modifiers and both of them laughed when they saw the crank and sleeve. I had actually paid him for 4 mods and after getting these two motors back I requested my money back. He won't even return my phone calls or emails. He's had his home phone well actually his parents house (which should have been a clue) disconnected. In all, I have found that he know absolutely nothing about motor modifying, is a cheat, a thief, a liar, and a scam artist. All I got from him was 2 shiny paperweights and a lot of headaches.

That much bad press spells the kiss of death for VR Mods...I'll just stick with Rick Brake thanks

HHMMM??..that is an interesting read for sure. But KyoshoKev , i guess you have never read bad press from other yahoo's who couldn't break in a motor the right way. I'm going to go go check out this thread and see if there was any replies from other people who might of had problems. It does sound like the guy definetly had problems , but i doubt very much it was from tims mods. I do know that he sponsors a few onroad drivers oversea's , and he said that they had been doing well with his motors. I don't know Tim at all , except for the times i spoke with him on the phone about my motors. I will also give him huge props because some of the parts in me and my room mates motors we're slightly worn , he replaced them , and didn't even charge me..........name another engine modder guy who would do that.

BTW......just so you know , how i first got in contact with him , he WAS REFERRED TO ME BY THE NOVAROSSI IMPORTER! The USA importer for the novarossi engines , that sells these $600.00-$800.00 engines is the one who referred me to tim. For over a year or so i kept seeing on ebay all the modified engines selling on ebay. I wrote the guy , and asked about VR MODS.......he had nothing but great things (of course) to say about the VR MODS engines. I found the VR MODS site and took it from there. When i first talked to Tim , he sounded overwhelmed with how many motors he had to get done and asked for about 30 days to finish mine....i said no problem. They we're worth the wait for sure. Tim told me that he no longer mods the motors for the guy , because he couldn't keep up with the demand. Tim does ALL his own motors from what i understand.

And also......you can talk your smack all ya want , it's a bulliten board which you can state your opinion as much as you want. BUT RB MODS..HAHA!!............dude you are smokin something. The ONE RB MOD motor i had was the biggest peice of crap on the planet. When i tore that thing down for the rebuild , and checked it out.....THAT was a hack job! Maybe their engines have gotten better over the last year or so..........but i'm going to find a picture that was in one of my magazines about 6 motnhs ago. It's a really good close up shot of Rick ( or his $7.00 an hour labor guy's) handy work........ya your right , stick with your junk motors...........HAHA!!........gimme a break! I think that the very FEW motors that RICK BRAKE probably does himself a great friggin motors!!..........but I don't think he ports all the motors himself. You are insane to even think that he does. They are just another mass produced hack job. I think RB MODS was another engine modder who got to busy to keep up with the demand , and hired a bunch of "non-speaking" english guys to go wild with a dremel........then sit on the grinder with a polishing wheel until it looks pretty.

And as far as me having any problems with my motors........NONE! hehehe......in fact , with two of them being completely broken in with about 1-1/2 gal through both i'm having a hard time keeping the tires glued on the rims. The other two i am breaking in have only about 10 tanks through them.....and they are not even close to being broke in.

Ohh yeah.......also , if you can read english KyoshoKev.............on your left ( that's <<<<< this way ) you can see i live up here in oregon , i think Tim lives in texas ya genius![>:]

AARRGG!!.......Look. I was thinking about the reply i just did above and think it's a little harsh. Sorry...i get carried away sometimes when i'm trying to make a point , or post my opinion. Look "KYOSHOKEV"......i don't mean to sound like i said your engines we're junk. Like i said i got carried away ....my bad , and sorry. I don't think the RB MODS engines are junk , mainly because they have proven themselves as being a great engine modifier. I spoke to Rick Brake himself through emails about a year ago , and almost sent everything to him instead. he seemed like a really cool guy , and definetly knows what he's talking about.

You know how it goes with things like this sometimes.............No matter what engine your running , buggy your driving , servo's your using , anything like these.........the things YOU OWN always have to be the best in your eyes. That's why there are so many debates on these forums or any other forum as far as that goes , because the guy who spent his money on a certain item , wants everyone to think that he has the best for the money he spent. You have to stick up for the product that you bought , or you look like a jack*****.

I feel happy with the motors i got , and i'm sure you do to with the RB MODS........that's great! I don't want to come on here and "DOWN" someone else's work , or the engines they use , buggy they drive , or anything like that. I think the bottom line here is , that we are all out to have fun on the track. At least that's what i want anyways. Slamming on the RB MODS motors was stupid on my part. I started thinking about it after i posted that , and thought i needed to apologize.

I didn't want to get off on the wrong foot with anyone. So as far as that goes , i'm sorry for sounding like a jack*****.

Give it up my friend..... I am a business owner and I have competition - but I would never publically bash another competitor business - bad move man...bad business ethincs......especially bashing in writing.......thats just plain stupidity....it can be held against you....fool.

Most of us with a brain can see through that kind of BS....if I were Tim, I would not be happy at the way you are acting. If you are Tim, then you better disappear for a while.

Dude..I'm NOT TIM...........Sheeesh[>:]. Look at my damn profile if you need to. And NOTHING can be held against me for anything.....FOOL! I'm stating my opinion......BTW , i can pretty much say anything i want. I did take back the things i said about RB MODS , because i mostly said that stuff in spite of trying to get under "kyoshokev's" skin. I felt like i was being bashed. You aren't a smart bussiness man at all if you think i was the only one bashing here.......did you read the post above , or on the last page about what the guy said about VR MODS? Crap......That guy has a legit complaint for sure.......is anyone going to go after him for staing his opinion??.......HAHA!!.....i think not! As far as the "public bashing" i said about RB MODS.......your right....It was stupid! I regret saying it , but i didn't bash another competitor's bussiness......I'm not in THAT bussiness. Now go do something constructive like run your big bussiness or something.

Well put.

I too am a private business owner and I know for a fact that word of mouth decides my fate...if the word is good, I do well...if the word is bad, no amount of satisfied customers can offset that one bad deal.

That being said, I recall being told by one of the LHS hotshots that Rick is a hack and all he does is port sleeves and polish turds...glad I didnt listen to that guy. Instead I bought one of Ricks RS5 mods and I love it, Rick will get all my business unless he does me wrong.
As a matter of fact I put in a call to Rick last week, he didnt answer the phone at the time, but 30 minutes later he called me back, spent 40 minutes on the phone with him on his dime, all over a $14 pinch job including return shipping. IMO thats outstanding customer service.

Irobotix...I told Rick that you may be considering one of his engines ( cool if you buy from Djray) , but you should call Rick anyway if you buy one of his engines, even if you dont get it directly from RB. I bet you wont be disappointed.

I didnt start this thread so you could flame about whos mods are better. I just asked a very simple question of whats the best motor, modded or unmodded..
So if you want to flame about what mod is better go somewhere else.

Back to the subject.
I like me freshly broken in ws7 2, but the p5s just seem to kill the bottom on almost any motor.
I do think my next motor will be the jp mod p5x.
