Default New Servo Question

Hi, I just put in a new steering servo in my ofna ultra lx comp. it is the Hitech 645mg and it works and everything but when i turn the buggy on after i turn the transmitter on, the wheels turn all the way to the right before i even start it up and they won't go back. Is there an adjustment i need to make? Anyone can comment. Thanks.

Did you center the steering servo then put the servo horn on?

If not take the servo horn off than turn the electrionics on. Make sure your steering trim is set straight and the servo turns both ways when you turn the wheel on the controler. When the servo is centered than put the servo horn on... wheels should be pointing straight ahead when in the centered position.

What do you mean you didn't think you needed a servo horn? That white piece on my servo is the servo horn. Take it off center the servo than put the servo horn back on while the wheels are pointed straight ahead.

I did that. That is the thing that you connect to the linkage and then it turns back and forth when you turn the wheels right? As you can see i am new to this hobby.

Yeah thats ok we all had to learn here sometime. To connect the linkage to the servo horn then just put a screw though the ball end of the linkage and screw it into the servo horn then put a nut on the screw thats sticking out of the other end of the servo horn. If the hole is to small the fit the screw though then drill it out a little with a body reamer, razor blade, or a drill untill you can just barly get it through. You want the screw to be a tight fit into the horn just so it holds well and you don't want to take to much plastic out of the horn because that will make it weaker. Just modify it untill it fits pretty much.

I don't know what kind of servo horns come with the hitech servos but for steering you really should have a thick heavy duty servo horn (like the one that comes on it stock) because they will break if they are to weak and of corse you'll loose steering. If the stock servo horn fits the servo then just use that one.

Heres a few pictures that I just used a few spare parts to make. A steering servo horn, screw and a nut, and the ball end of the linkage. When changing a servo some of them are geared different so you may need to switch the servo reversing switch on your transmitter to get it steering in the right direction that you feel comfortable with. I hope this is the only problem you've been having . If not take a pic if you can so I can get a better idea of what you need help with.

Is the servo horn the red thing in your pictures? how would you put that on if you connect the a arm to the linkage? where would you put it then? Thanks for all your help!! I don't have a digital camera so I won't be able to get you any pictures of mine.
