Default Clutch Spring

Due to idling problems with my Rex X buggy, I have just stripped down the clutch and found the spring broken. This was a long coil spring obviously joined at the ends originally. I don't know what make of clutch it is but it looks identical to the Savage clutch/flywheel but with a different type of spring. The Savage seems to have three separate springs, one for each shoe. Does anyone know if the original single spring is available or whether the separate springs can be used in place of the original?
Failing this, can I fit other shoes and bell to my three post flywheel?
Thanks.

Yes you can fit a 3 shoe clutch system to your flywheel. The old long spring method used to suffer from debris getting in the coil and stretching it, well really not allowing it to contract properly. This was a common failure on the HPI mt2/rush and Tamiya TGM-02 (Terra crusher/wild commando).

Thanks for that. Can you answer another question? The pegs on my flywheel are very short and would not seem suitable for changing to a three spring system. I want to get a new flywheel and shoe assembly complete but keep the bell if possible. Are all bells the same size, ie the same internal diameter or would I have to make sure I got the correct shoes for my bell?
Thanks again.

replace the flywheel with a Kyosho, HoBao (ours are labeled Ofna in yank land), or mugen.

I'm runnin an Ofna 3 shoe aluminum clutch on my X-terminator (yank version of your car), and it's effing great.

For the rex, the Hyper 7 clutch would be best.

I'm pretty sure mine is what comes in the H7 pro, but I can't be sure...either that or one of the higher level (relatively) 9.5s
