Default Do you need to drill holes for new motor mounts?

Yes: On the RTR you will have to drill and tap the front holes, just make sure your motor is locked in and your gears mesh correctly then center punch from the top and drill a 1/16 hole as a starter hole you will need to counter sink from the bottom also then drill and tap the holes, it will look great, I rate this job a 1 and should not take longer then 15 min from start to finish

sorry lost the original thread. I am not a madman matter of fact I am not a man at all but yet a woman. I was responding to someone asking about putting the new lower motor mounts on the rtr mayhem. Hope I didn't cause an aneurysm for you. Do you have high blood pressure?

i changed my mayhem motor without drilling anything. simply take off old mounts and intall new pro mounts. take off the rotostart and install the backplate. and screw in to chasis. DO NOT drill anything on your buggy. drill your significant other, not your buggy...

Your right there is no need to drill anything if your using the Pro Motor mounts however we have been talking about the new motor mounts for the Mayhem ST that alot of people have been using instead of the Pro motor mounts. They are configured totally different than the Pro motor mounts. They have a total of 6 screw holes not 4 like the Pro and the stock rtr mounts. And if you don't utalize the 2 front screw holes you will not reap the benifits of strengthening the chassis. And as we all know the Mayhem does have a flex problem in the chassis.

Well said Alex.
We should all appreciate when a woman participates in this hobby instead of acting like immature 14-year olds (or being one!)

djray77 you should learn to behave yourself and start with an apology.

Do you know where Chippenham is? Have you ever been there? Have you ever ventured out of your own little hamlet? I would suggest that people that live in glass houses ........

Thats ok as a woman I get this all the time. I get this at the track on race day and even at the Hobby shop. I have been building and racing rc's since 1990. And it really burns men when you beat them in the A-mains. Apology accepted.

BTW I am accepted at the track now but it took many years for them to accept me but now I am just one of the guys and I earned their respect. Having smaller hands is actually easier for me to get in those tight spots.

Sorry to ask but I've been wondering has anyone had to do any modifications to install a pullstart engine onto a buggy. I know when I installed my Picco .26 I had to put some cheesy plastic spacers between my engine and mounts just to mount the engine on without the backplate hitting the main chassis. I dont like the fact that the spacers I put in are an unprofessional look does anyone have a better idea for spacers.

What type of buggy is it? If it's a Mayhem Pro, you will need to use the mounts off of the RTR which are higher and allow the backplate/pullstart to clear the chassis.
