What's up guys. I'm having a real hard time trying to figure out why my new engine is so hard to turn over. Even turning the flywheel by hand with the glow plug out, is fricken hard. My starterbox on a full charged g cell cant turn it over. I took out the engine and tried lining it up on the starterbox and it did turn it over with out a glow plug. When I put the glowplug back on, it doesnt.
And ideas why. by the book, engine nut is tight. clutch, and clutchbell are on fine. I'm stumped???

new engines have a tight pinch. it takes several (7-12) tanks to mate the piston to the liner and wear it in. just be patient and keep working at the break in.

get a heat gun and a temp gun...heat the head till it's at least 150 deg F....it will turn a lot easier....and don't forget to get it up to at LEAST 200 deg during break in or your killing it early.......

if you can't get it to turn over with the starter box, take the glow plug out & drop a few drops of fuel in there & turn it over a couple of times with the plug out to lube it. stick the plug back in & it will fire right up. i had the same problem with my P5, it will be tight like that for a while, but they are an awesome engine once they are run in.

if it is jammed put a few drops of after run oil in the glow plug hole & let it sit for a bit. take the engine out of the buggy & if you have a heat gun or hairdryer heat it up. with it out of the buggy you should be able to get a grip on the fly wheel to turn it out. for the first few tanks i had to use a screwdriver to pop the fly wheel out of lock until it freed up enough to pop with my finger. it's had well over a gallon through it now (nearly 2) & it still gets stuck every now & then. they hold their compressin really well. i'll definitely be getting another one of these engines.

yup high end .21 race engines are so much fun to break in. loosen the glow plug and heat up the head before you go to start it and make sure when you start it the piston is at bottom dead center that way the engine will get a full stroke when you go to start it. and when you break it in get the engine up to around 200 run it for 3-5 min. let it cool and do it again.(heat cycle) that is the only way to run in a nitro mill. give it time!!

put some "after-xxx oil"
into the engine and use a flat screwdriver - slowly - to lossen the stuck flywheel. You may here some terrible sound of squeezed metal though
