Profit?? Even if you race these things for money I would guess you would always spend more than you make.

4, girlfriends hairdryer to dry out the gear boxes and bearings
5, WD40 all over and bearings (watch the breaks)

won't soaking it with WD-40 makes the buggy oily, which will stick more dirt in the next run !

For a damp dirty track: Air compressor.

For a dry track that leaves that hard to get off dirt: Nitro cleaner, windex, or 409 lightly sprayed to the dirty areas then air compressor.

HOLY SMOKES!!! --YOU GUYS MUST HAVE A PILE OF CASH !!! HOSE-EM DOWN? PRESSURE SPRAY? SOAK-EM WITH WD?----WOW-----ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT CLEANING R/C CARS? I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FARM TOOL CLEANING THREAD FOR A MINUTE.

MY BROTHER-IN-LAW GOT INTO R/C RACING A YEAR AGO. WHEN I TOLD HIM ABOUT MAINTANCE AND CLEANING HE TOLD ME HE ALREADY HAD A FULL TIME JOB!!!. HE CHANGED HIS MIND ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO WHEN HE STARTED RACING ALOT.

HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED AT A SPONSORED OR PRO DRIVERS RIDE? YA, I KNOW WHAT YOUR GONNA SAY NEXT--" THEY GET ALL OF THEIR PARTS FREE, AND THEY RUN NEW KITS AND PARTS ALL THE TIME" THIS IS ONLY PART TRUE FOR A SMALL FEW AND BEFOR THEY WERE SPONSORED THEY HAD TO WRENCH, CLEAN AND MAINTAIN THEIR RIDES.

1. TAKE THE MOTOR OUT
2. TAKE THE ELECS OUT
3. USE A AIR COMPRESSOR TO BLOW OFF MUD AND DIRT.( BE EXTRA CAREFUL NOT TO BLOW DIRT INTO BEARINGS)
4. DISASSEMBLE ALL THE WAY DOWN
5. GET A CONTAINER AND MIX 10 PARTS WATER TO 1 PART SIMPLE GREEN
6. CLEAN ALL PARTS AND DRY
7. CHECK AND CLEAN BEARING -USE MOTOR SPRAY TO CLEAN OUT
8. RELUBE ALL BEARINGS AND GEARS
9. RELUBE O-RINGS AND FILL DIFFS WITH OIL
10. REASSEMBLE KIT
11. CLEAN MOTOR---(BE EXTRA CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY DIRT IN THE CARB)
12. RELUBE AND CHANGE FILTER
13. INSTALL
14. CLEAN AND INSTALL ELECS
15. IF YOU WANT A CLEAN BODY USE SIMPLE GREEN---IF YOU WANT A SHOW STOPPING CLEAN USE SIMPLE GREEN THEN SPRAY THE OUTSIDE WITH HONDA WAX AND CLEANER SPRAY. YOU CAN GET THE STUFF AT ANY MOTO SHOP. E USE TO USE PLEXUS BUT IT LEAVES MICRO-SCRATCHES.

WHERE IS THE SPELL CHECK?

That kind of break-down only happens every 3 months or so. At least in my basement.

Default RE: How do you clean your buggy?

I have an OFNA pre-painted body, so I am not shooting for style points. All I do is after the car comes in, I spray it off with my air compressor, assuming conditions were dry. Then I toss it in my storage bin until next weekend.

If it was muddy, then I grab a rag, coat the entire car in simple green without removing any electronics whatsoever. I don't understand why everyone removes their electronics, I have yet to have any problems with water on my servos, battery or radio box. If its really crusty, I may take my wheels off, so I have better access to cleaning around the hubs. Anyway, then I wipe it down with a rag. After that, I go back with a really dilluted bottle of simple green (mostly water) and I spray the crap out of the car some more. I jam a rag into tight spaces with the back side of a toothbrush or the blade of a flat screwdriver. Then I spray some more of the watery simple green mixture on the car while blasting it with the air compressor (so the sludge doesn't have a chance to dry into place). Towel dry, and windex the body.

My car doesn't look pretty, but as long as all of the pivot points move without binding, my gears don't grind, and my shocks don't leak (much) it doesn't really matter to me.

EDIT: clone3, I saw what kind of budget you dumped into your car, and I can see why you would want to spend 18 hours a day spit shining it. Hell, wouldn't want to even drive it, with all the expensive shiny stuff you bought. My car only has a couple hop ups, so I don't care if I beat it like a red headed step child. I will be nice and tear it down once a month or so to inspect for injuries I may have inflicted.

whats the piont in spending that much time cleaning your buggy when its just going to get filthy again the next day, or the next time u take it out 4 a strap. i agree with kx250ryder, that type of cleaning is done only every 3 months to inspect 4 damage

WHATS THAT'S GRINDING I HEAR COMING OFF YOUR RIDE???
JUST KIDDIN----

I FOUND THAT I SAVED A LOT OF CASH IN THE LONG RUN BY CLEANING MY CARS AS I POSTED IN THE THREAD. I ALSO FOUND THAT WHEN RACE DAY CAME I WASN'T WASTING ALOT OF TIME TRYING TO FIG. WHAT THE #$% WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR.

DONT GET ME WRONG----LOOK AT THE PICKS-------I LIKE TO GET OUT THERE AND SWAP DIRT AND PAINT JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE-----I JUST PREFER NOT TO BE WORKING ON MY RIDE WHEN I CAN BE DRIVING IT!!!
