They are both very similar. The R2 has lightened plastics and the diffs are smaller and lighter. The R2 weighs around 7.5 pounds and the R1 is a bit heavier wight about 8 to 8.5 pounds.
You can find a really good deal on a new R1 Cen Matrix FRE. I have seen them going for around $250-280 for a new kit. Either way, you will have a very competitive buggy once you install a good set of servos and a decent .21 engine.

hi all,
i have just brought a new cen matrix buggy but its not tuned and i can not find the factory settings any were can any one help ?? the car wont even star t because it is so badly out!!!
