Default Best $200 engine?

I think im gonna have to buy a new engine for my Hyper 7 PCR, and i would like to spend around $200. I would like to get a fast engine (faster then the stock hyper.21 8-port). It has to be race legal under ROAR rules. And i would be willing to sacrifice a little bit of power for an easy to tune engine.

Probably a picco or OS, put I dont think you have ruined your engine. You can ALWAYS fix these kinda of cars plus is the pic that give the sleeve the right orientation broken?

Back on the topic of which engine. What are the most amount of ports a engine can have and still comply with ROAr rules? Because if it is 8 i might get a hyper .21 8-port race.

Sorry but Ebay and other auctions sites are the only places i cant buy off of the internet. Is 5 the maximum amount of ports allowed under ROAR rules? Also iw ould like to get a engine made by one of the more popular brand like either O.S., Novarossi, Picco ECT.

Owah! Just realized I have more meny then i thought now im looking into spending a absolute maximum of $280, and no more, but i would like to still stay around a price tag of $250. But if i absolutely have to i can spend a little more. Remember, I would like a engine that is ROAR Legal, and can be fround on the web for less then $280, except on Ebay and other auction sites. Or maybe should i spend the extra $10 and get a Novarossi PR21P5/N from [link=http://www.novarcproducts.com/novarossienginespages/novarossi21.html]http://www.novarcproducts.com/novarossienginespages/novarossi21.html[/link]

or is that engine too much of a handful for someone like me who has only been into Nitro RC for a Year and a half, and is about at a medium level with tuning expierence.

Rb makes very high quality engines, and is just as reputable as the manufactors listed and ths s5 is a very nice engine. Also for roar legal look it up don't make others do your research.

The PR21P5/N will fit into my Hyper 7 PCR without any modifications right? Also how long will the parts last on this engine because im new to 1/8th buggy but ive been racing 1/10 on-road for around 1 1/2 years, and those race engines dont last too long, especially the conrod's.

But first i want to know how long will parts like the conrod last on this engine, and will it fit into my Hyper 7 PCR without any modifications?

Here is my thought on this. I am not trying to be mean to you, but if you can't get a hyper .21 to last a gallon of fuel you probably don't need a 200 dollar engine because it won't be any easier to deal with, and you are just going to waste your money and destroy it too, but it is your money so do what you want.

O.K. ive had 2 on-road nitro cars, an Rs4 3 EVO, and when i was thinking about buying a Serpent 710 and putting all the money into that some people told me dont do it, but i did and everything turned out just fine. Yah all admit that mistake was probably one of the most stupid things ive ever done with an RC car, but you gotta admit, that is the tkind of mistake you make once and ill definetly never forget it.
I can absolutley see where you coming form and why your saying it, but i just want to know it will fit into my Hyper 7 PCR right? And also if you take care of the engine around how long do these parts last?

I'll chime in here.....first off if you are just starting out in offroad you DO NOT need the most powerful engine to start off with. Secondly when you are on the track it is not the same as driving in your front yard in the grass with tons of traction. My suggestion to you would be to fix your current engine, buy good tires, and PRACTICE. The only thing a faster motor will do for a beginner is break more parts. You can come to the track in Miami and see what the fast guys are running. My suggestion to you is fix what you got, get some parts, and some MS K2's with stock foam. Just my suggestions...

For some reason i thought about it and ive decided im not going to spend all that money on an engine, but it would be great if there was an engine for the same price as a Hyper.21 8-port that wont have as big a sticking problem, because ive never had this problem before i used this engine, and actually. It caused me alot of problems because it was so bad that for a while i couldnt even start the thing. I dont know how or why it decided to stop sticking one morning, but it did, and once it stopped the engine was great. Maybe that was just my engine but the tightness was unbelivelble between the piston and sleeve in my engine.

Is it worth it to spend the extra $25 on the 8-port race instead of the regular 8-port? Also off of towerhobbies does either engines(8-port & 8-Port race) come with pinion gears, a flywheel, and the clutch assembly?? If they dont the Pinion gear, flywheel, and clutch assembly off of my broken Hyper .21 8-port will fit on the 8-port race right??

a P5 will last a long time (6+ gallons if u take care of it). its a very strong mill. the hyper 8port are not reputed to be that reliable, though i have never driven one myself. most people have problems tuning them from what i have heard.

to be ROAR legal, it needs to be .21 size and that about it. port number doesnt matter. and the larger the port number does not necesarily mean its faster. the 3 port V-spec will spank a hyper 8port, and many other motors.

the P5 will fit, but the pipe on the hyper wont be optimized for it.

no, the new engines dont come with a clutch assembly and yes the old one will fit. invest in some clutch shims and bearings too while u are at it.

Patchy and moetown, fill me in more about the OS RG motor. I just picked up one with my Hyper & TQ waiting for it to get here, but im worried it wont be a performer. Im looking for decent power out of it, and you also said that you can mod it? whats that all about? I need to know that this motor is a good choice and I hope its better then my Force .26
