Default RUNAWAY!! CLOSE CALL!!

Hey all! Well last friday my mate and myself went down the road to the local netball courts to run our cars around! This was the first run (after break-in) of my buggy since I installed my new engine (OS RG), pipe (JP-1) and radio gear (Hitec 645MG, MX3 radio and venom failsafe) and my mate ran his serpent 960r with me.

For the first few hours we were just running it on the concrete, dragging each other and the likes..anyway after a few hours I got tired of doing this so looked for some nice offroad action. Just behind me there was this nice mini hill for jumping...I launched my buggy off it a few times with a nice 100 meter run up each time and in one case got about 3 meters of air and landed it perfectly.

I had brought down my camcorder so I decided to get my mate to film me taking one of these jumps...he happily agreed and we got set up. After a few mins I was ready to go..I took my runup and got ready to land another perfect jump but this time the car landed in a small ditch on its rear wheels very awkwardly and just got crunched...I watched in shock as it flipped rapidly then saw something fly out of the car, it then landed on all four wheels and took off again. At this point I remembered that I had installed a failsafe so didnt panic too much, but then when it didnt stop I started to wonder "well why isnt it the fail safe kicking in?"..so I turned the transmitter off but still...nothing happened...I looked to where the car was heading..straight ahead was a small strip of water..so I pelted after it. At this point my heart was racing as I thought that all the stuff I had just installed had been drowned. I got there and was happy to see that the car had got caught up in a small bed of reeds! I quickly shut her down and went to see what had flown out of my car..and surley enough it was the reciever battery...somehow the radio box lid had cracked open and the battery went flying..and this is why the fail safe wasnt responding.

My mate and myself had a little laugh about this but I am not to happy as I now have to like rebuild the whole front of my buggy...anyway I dont think that I will be launching her off jumps anytime soon! Well that was my little bit of action over the weekend! If anyone else had something crazy happen over the weekend please share!

Thanks

Josh

PS. I did get it on camera and will be trying to get the video edited this week, if I finish it ill be sure to post!

It wasn't this wekend but last week. We just got a nice crust on the recent snow we had. I also just bought paddle tires for in the snow and was ready for some fun.

I was taking passes out into the feild behind my house and spinning around and coming back. I did this like 5 times then the last time when it came back to me and spun around I had no throttle or steering. So I checked it out. Snow got inside my reciever box thru a plastic bag and a balloon into the reciever.

I couldn't stop thinking what would have happened if it got wet 15 seconds earlier. The field is like a mile long and flat and it was a full tank of gas. I would probably still be chasing it.LOL

So I went friday and got a failsafe and return spring for it. All is safe for the snow now.
