Default Servo Question??

Whats a good servo and whats not? Can I know what kind of torque a servo has from the model it is? Are there different servos for steering and others for throttle? Thanks I appreciate your input.

How much do you want to spend...high end airtronics $200.00 for both the 957 and 958 or low end two futabas for $70.00 3501 (I thtink is the number for the 120 oz .20 sec servo from futaba)

It is the futaba S3305.....tower for $37.00 each . 124 oz/.20 sec transit time. Great servo more the money better quality then the hitec junk in the same price range.

I run the S3305 and you can't break them. They are one of the if not the most reliable servo out there. They are slow and a little weak compaired to those high dollar digital servos but the digital servos are just overkill and wont let you go any faster. I race with the S3305 and its not giving me any disadvantage what so ever.

You run that servo as your steering servo Dave?

What's a good throttle/brake servo as well?

>100 oz for steering is a decent rule of thumb.

A run the S3305 on steering and throttle/brake. 100 oz of torque is just about what you want for steering and brake (you can go a little lower with the brakes like 80 oz but the brakes slip unless you keep them perfectly clean and dry). Those expencive digital servos are nice because there fast but the torque is flat out overkill. They don't help you go any faster either as long as your analog servos are decent and reliable (like the S3305).
