Hi, i have an old super athlete (mugen) and want to fit a non buggy shell like a pick up(elcamino) or whatever, is this possible ? and if so how, i dont want to thrash it around a track as even though its in as new condition i dont want to break it as parts are getting hard to buy and expencive, so i thought if i stiffen up the suspention and put some sutible road tyres i would just play round the carparks with it. maybe even set it up for a bit of drifting.
I know anything is possible but is there a tried and tested way to fit a non standard buggy shell on my car?
thanks in advance for any help.
Nick

I did this when I set an HPI Trans Am 200mm sedan body on my Losi XXX-T stadium truck. Your best bet to select a body is to go to your LHS and set some bodies on top of your car to make sure your selected body is the right length and width for your car. Also, make sure that you can trim the body to fit the body posts. Once you have selected a body, trim it and ream the body mount holes BEFORE you paint. The easiest way to do this is to scar the body film where you want to trim for clearance and body mounts, then cut only if you are sure that your marks are either 100% dead on or short of where they should be. Once it's been trimmed, do another test fit to see if any further trimming is required. Be sure that the body is not in the way of the suspension or steering. Once the body is fitted properly, continue as you would for a pre-fitted body. You can see the results of my project [link=http://www.geocities.com/cudarunner2000/transam.html]here.[/link] I know it's not an 1/8 scale buggy, but it should give you an idea of what to expect. Good luck and post some picks when it's done.
